Alash Autonomy flag edit

Hello. Could you change the location of the red and yellow colors on the flag of the Alash Autonomy? The fact is that the author of the flag, Barlybek Syrtanov, wrote in his charter: “The country of the Kazakhs has a flag. The flag consists of green, red and yellow cross-stripes. In the upper corner there is a drawing of a crescent moon and a star. Green is a sign of the country's loyalty to Islam, red is a symbol of the blood shed while defending the country, yellow is a symbol of the wide Kazakh steppe and freedom.". That is, we are talking about a green-red-yellow flag, not a green-yellow-red one. Kazman321 (talk) 08:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Native American flags edit

Hi Germanfer, Looks like you are a person who can do flag designs. I was looking at the flags used by the Native American tribes of Montana, and some of them are wrong. This is a (mostly) reliable source for the officially recognized tribal flags, and perhaps you could use it to correct the images for the Little Shell Chippewa of Montana (totally different flag), and for the Crow tribe, which uses the wrong colors. I also noticed at Flags_of_Native_Americans_in_the_United_States#Montana that we are missing three flags…perhaps you can help? Also, I just uploaded File:Blackfeet Nation flag.jpg But it looks like SVG or PNGs are preferred for flag images, but I don’t know how to create one like that. So I certainly would value any help you could provide? Thanks in advance.Montanabw (talk) 21:58, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Just a follow up, the Little Shell Chippewa flag is actually their seal on a blue background, not a yellow one, here is a link to the seal in a larger image, and here is a photo of the flag being displayed, to prove that it’s a blue background. I think it’s particularly important to fix this one because it’s wrong. Montanabw (talk) 22:06, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Second follow up, as you can see from this image, the seal of the Crow Nation has an orange background, not a yellow one. So File:Crow Nation Flag.jpg File:Crow Nation.png and File:Flag of the Crow Nation.svg also needs fixing As you can see, here, File:Crow Nation flag.jpg the flag as it is flown today does have the seal over a light blue field. Montanabw (talk) 22:31, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I have been a bit inactive recently due to my studies, but whenever I have time to get back to making flags, I will work on fixing all of these mistakes. In the mean time, keep writing any other mistakes or missing flags you find and I will eventually work on it. Kind regards. Germenfer (talk) 14:15, 14 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

File:Proposed Flag of the Alash Autonomy.svg edit

Hello, after some time of discussion, I realized that for the flag of Alash autonomy it is necessary to return the g-y-r color arrangement, this is due to the fact that qualified historians in the source claim that there is no real sequence, so they chose a more logical one. Bristol City Line edit

I am sorry to say that these flags have nothing at all to do with the company Bristol City Line, and neither does your source say they do: [1] [2] [3] In their combination they belong to Glasgow-based Ellerman City Line. When Ellerman Lines took over "City Line" of George Smith and Sons, Glasgow in the 1900s, they retained the previous City Line houseflag (with its SS=Smith & Sons) and added an Ellerman pennant above (JRE=J R Ellerman).

For Bristol City Line, their houseflag was something like here - perhaps a little darker, though not as near to black as on the example at the National Maritime Museum (note that in the text it is described as blue) - before 1950 the flag was rectangular, but then changed to swallow-tail. Davidships (talk) 01:26, 11 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Done! Here it is. I took the description provided in FOTW to be the truth as it quotes "Armoiries communales en Belgique. Communes wallonnes, bruxelloises et germanophones". On the other hand, a discrepancy that I have found online can be found here. I believe this discrepancy might come from the interpretation on the former description.

Please stop making up flags edit

You have created and uploaded a lot of flags to Wikimedia Commons. As your talk page attests to, many of these have been the subject of deletion discussions due to verifiability issues. Regrettably, it seems, due to low or no participation from the userbase, that these flags have largely been retained. Can you please stop uploading flags that you made up yourself, which you don't even try to back up with sources? What do you gain from propagating such disinformation? I do not make up flags. I digitize existing ones on Wikipedia on request. If a flag I have digitise turns out to be fake, then that's a shame. I am not a historian. The original uploads should be the ines being targeted, so they are not spread to other users such as me, who are just tasked with their "improvement" or "vectorisation". I try to fact check most, but some might slip. GERMENFER 07:10, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
    Hi @Germenfer
Please note that the title is inaccurate; it should be 'Azaoued' instead of 'Toureg.' Furthermore, the Azaoued does not utilize a flag featuring the mentioned Berber symbol.
It is crucial to verify your sources thoroughly before disseminating flags that are not genuine, as such misinformation can propagate to Wikipedia articles and necessitate additional efforts to rectify. If we opt to nominate the article for deletion, we face COM:INUSE. Since you are the original uploader, would it be possible for you to request its deletion directly?

What I will do is I will rename it to "Variant Flag of the NMLA". I have verified that this flag variant is actually being used, as seen in one of the photos of the source. I will add the source to the file. GERMENFER 05:24, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
