Thanks for uploading File:Jacquelyn A. Kallunki.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Jacquelyn A. Kallunki.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Your uploads, and correct licenses edit

Hello! I am concerned that some or all of your uploaded files may not have appropriate or acceptable licenses. With the exception of public domain media, a license can only be granted by the copyright holder, which is usually the author (photographer, painter or similar). If you can provide justification for an image being in the public domain in both the U.S. and source country (if different), an appropriate license such as {{Pd-1923}} or {{Pd-old-1923}} would be better (less restrictive) than, for example, a creative commons license (see Copyright rules by territory for more info). Note that the year and country of publication, the creator, and creator's death are usually needed to establish public domain status for materials first published outside of the U.S.

From your Wikipedia user page, I'm making an assumption you work for the New York Botanical Garden or an affiliated archive: Even if you work for an agency that "owns" or houses a photograph or piece of art, additional evidence may be required that the agency authorizes permission. Except for demonstrable public domain work, this requires explicit confirmation that the copyright holder recognizes they are irrevocably granting free license to the work, and in cases where permission is not explicitly stated by the author (e.g. on an official website), you must submit evidence of permission (e.g. in the form of a permission e-mail) to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org), for all media (a single email with complete list of files is acceptable, I believe). Note that Commons can only accept free content, as described at Commons:Licensing. In some cases, non-free media can be uploaded to English Wikipedia under fair use claims, but fair use is not allowed on Commons. If you have any questions on copyrights, or how best to tag your uploads, please inquire at Commons:Village pump/Copyright. Failure to provide evidence of permission or the correct license may unfortunately lead to your files being deleted. Cheers, --Animalparty (talk) 20:40, 4 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Talk: Hamsamdwich Permissions edit

Thank you @Animalparty: for bringing the permissions of some of my images to my attention. I am the Librarian here at NYBG and we host editathons. We have one coming up soon and I intend on adding more content. Would it be appropriate to send one permissions email for my past uploads and my upcoming ones if I just provide a list and authorization? Let me know!

Hamsamdwich

(Disclaimer: I am not an OTRS admin, but have dealt with them before). For files you have already uploaded that are not in the public domain, you can probably send a single email that includes a list of file names and permission. For future uploads, I believe you will need to send a new permission confirmation for each batch of uploads (they don't grant a blanket permission to cover all future uploads), but this can also be a single list. You may be asked follow-up questions to ascertain status. For clearly public domain images such as File:Homer D. House Photographing Wild Flowers.jpg (published in the U.S. prior to 1923), no person or agency can claim copyright, and creative commons licenses like {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} are precluded (I've corrected the license for this file.). Commons:Copyright rules by territory#United States explores this in more detail. The links in the above messages should address remaining issues. I hope this helps! --Animalparty (talk) 02:55, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
