please place your pictures in a category or a gallery

Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries) or put the images directly into a category, or do both. To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help. You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files here: Gallery

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Så här har jag formulerat mig avseende "Author" på de foton som kommer från "Lina Jonns efterträdare" (vilket ju är ett antal av de vi skannade i går):

"Lina Jonns efterträdare" [= Lina Jonn's successor]; possibly Per Bagge (died 1936) who is known to have taken over Jonn's studio in 1903.

Klosterkyrkogården i Lund

Kan du klargöra om Category:Klosterkyrkogården, Lund och Category:Cemetery at Sankt Peters Klosters kyrka avser samma kyrkogård? jag tycker i så fall att den första av dessa borde vara den "riktiga" kategorin. De flesta (men inte alla) svenska kyrkogårdsnamn tycks här behandlas som egennamn och lämnas oöversatta, vilket jag nog tycker är rimligt. --Hegvald (talk) 08:01, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Tack, har omkategoriserat. För övrigt, om du gör fler vändor på kyrkogårdarna i Lund (eller på andra håll för den delen), kolla gärna efter om det finns signaturer på byster och medaljonger och andra skulpturelement. Det vore bra om man kunde lägga dessa bilder även till kategorier för konstnärerna. På medaljongerna sitter signaturen ibland mer eller mindre diskret insatt i själva reliefens bildyta, ibland på den undre kanten. Beroende på ljusförhållanden och annat kan signaturerna vara svårläsliga och svårfotograferade, men om man har en bild och kan jämföra med andra avfotograferade signaturer kan det bli lättare. (När man väl kan gissa sig till vem upphovsmannen/kvinnan kan vara, kan man nog i tveksamma fall kontrollera någonstans om man har rätt.) --Hegvald (talk) 20:59, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Hedning. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Hedning~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.

I have always had the username Hedning, and have used it since 2004 on Swedish Wikipedia, and started to use it on Commons many, many years ago, so there must be some mistake here. Perhaps I forgot my password at some point, and created a new password? No clue. Can't remember.
