You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Swedish Grand Prix locations

I see you have uploaded the File:Swedish Grand Prix locations.png. This map is very nice, but there's an error in it. The name Kristianstad is given to Skarpnäck, and the name Skarpnäck is given to Kristianstad. Could that be corrected? Boot Blues (talk) 14:59, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Pay attention to licensing

Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. File:Alberto Ascari.jpg seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

I was wondering why you named the file "Andrea de Cesaris 1983.jpg" - the original photo you cropped [1] looks as thought it was taken at the launch of the 1982 Alfa Romeo, so I would have imagined the photo was taken in 1982, not 1983. Consider using Croptool?

Hi, I noticed that many of your uploads are crops of existing Commons images. I think Croptool can save you a lot of time, because it's an online editor and it copies license and source information from the original image automatically. On a related note, I'd avoid using URLs (addresses that begin with http://) when you can more easily link by file name, i.e. [[:File:Filename.jpg]] or using the {{ExtractedFrom}} template.
