Welcome to Wikimedia Commons, Iconoclast!

File:Aloga kondar.jpg edit

Hi, I have removed your speedy deletion template from this image, as it is not clear that it is a modern statue. In Greece, statues enter the public domain seventy years after the author's death, and a statue such as this may very well be in the public domain. J Milburn (talk) 10:16, 25 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Two questions edit

Hi, Iconoclast. I have been reading article §26 of the Greek Copyright Law, and I do not understand the reason for deletion. Firstly, article §26 of the Greek Copyright Law establishes that: The occasional reproduction and communication by the mass media of images of architectural works, fine art works, photographs or works of applied art, which are sited permanently in a public place, shall be permissible, without the consent of the author and without payment. I understand that occasional reproduction of those kind of works si permited in the article, not forbidden, although the english translation may not be exact. Secondly, I think we are talking about diferent concepts. Photographs uploaded by me show informative panels and statues in publics places. None of those cases can be considered "architectural works, fine art works, photographs or works of applied art". The informative panels, in my understanding, should be considered Public Domain works. Therefore, reproduction should be permissable in both cases not because there is an exception, but because there is no copyright. For these reasons, I will remove your speedy deletion template from the images File:Plano del Agora de Atenas.JPG, File:Pericles estatua en avda Athinas01.JPG‎ and File:Pericles estatua en avda Athinas.JPG Dorieo (talk) 11:36, 25 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks for the info but it is not my photo. It was upload by User:Victor Korniyenko. Regards Electron <Talk?> 08:18, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy delete of NTUA building photos edit

Please don't mark any of these photos for speedy deletion. Public buildings owned by the greek state are in the public domain. Also you might consider a more constructive approach to commons than upholding an ambiguous law. Furthermore I also noticed that you have been indefinitely blocked from the english wikipedia. I hope you are not a sockpuppet of user:Pplatis, but I will closely monitor your actions for any such indications. Be warned. --Ferengi (talk) 08:35, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just read your own comment again. If the greek state owns the copyright, how can the 70 year after death law be relevant? The greek state is not a person. --Ferengi (talk) 11:28, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

File:Ostap Bender Monument.jpg edit

This is also not my photo... I only reload it from en-wiki. I informed the owner here. It would be apreciate if you inform in such situation the firt uploader because hi/she usually knowns better the details of their works... Regards Electron <Talk?> 08:39, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thespians Monument (File:Thespians_monument_full.jpg) edit

This photo, taken by me, does not violate any copyrights law.

As it is stated in "Commons:Freedom of panorama" :

According to §26 of the Greek Copyright Law as last amended in 2003, the "occasional reproduction and communication by the mass media" of images of works of architecture, works of the fine arts, photographs, and works of the applied arts is allowed for works permanently situated in a public place without the consent of the author of the work and without payment of any remuneration.

The interpretation of "occasional reproduction and communication by the mass media" as it is perceived here in Greece, allows for this use. Photos of any kind of public places are freely and widely use in any kind of media. Even more this is a public monument (in a public place), belonging to the Greek state and its cultural value is freely available to all people.

So claiming a violation, I think is absurd.

You Iconoclast or whoever, don't you have anything more constructive to do, than wasting our time?

FOP in Greece edit

Hello, I think you should create a proper deletion request for these images. There are enough uncertainty, so that a discussion is needed before deletion might take place. I am going to revert your speedy tags. Thanks, Yann (talk) 11:31, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I see you have decided to submit a bunch of images for speedy delete again. I believe in light of the fact that there are lawyers trying to reseach this issue, this is inapproiate, and you were asked previously not to do so. I am going to revert the tags just as the user above did. -- ArielGlenn (talk) 15:14, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
FOP or not is not relevant unless there is some sort of "work of art". --MGA73 (talk) 11:48, 12 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
No, in some countries, buildings do count as art. ViperSnake151 (talk) 13:35, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Since you submited again a great number of deletion requests after the last warning, many of them without a valid reason, I blocked you again for 3 days. Please wait for the issue is resolved through discussion. Thanks, Yann (talk) 12:47, 12 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest you cease with the DR nominations edit

Things are being talked over, looked over and researched. So until someone gets some new information, why don't you go ahead and not nominate anything else for DR. While you're taking a break, go ahead and read over Commons:Deletion requests/Mass deletion request. Should things end unfavorably in the research, then you can feel free to submit a Mass Deletion Request and ONLY a mass DR. If you continue to abuse the javascript buttons for filing dozens of DR's for the same thing, all right in a row, we'll make sure the buttons mysteriously stop working. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 16:26, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Photos of the Hydra, Spetse and Psara Greek battleships edit

Hello Iconoclast, Can you take a look if the source of the photos are now OK? They are from 3 18th century's battleships and full public material and I don't believe that have copyright problems but plz have a fresh look. Thanks, --Factuarius (talk) 02:38, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

copy from a letter to other administrator: edit

I'm attonised of the deletion of several images from me in Commons. I.e. the face of the ex president of Maldive Islans Maumoon abdul gayoom.jpg, that I take personally during my trip to the islands; If this man is a public man and I take the photo how can vandalize it a honorable member of commons.
Anoter. the FARC flag, that I drtaw according a sheet provided by the organization when a delegation was in catalan Countries, with autorization of free use, and was supresed alleging that the logo in the flag was copyrigted, but next day the same flag with the same logo was accepted with no problem because was draw by an anglosaxon and/or any influent commomns member. This man copied the image from me and plagied my work, and Commons are a sort of delinquents that authorize it.
I have also the permission for use the logos of the Emirates cities, that you vandalized even knowing it.
Inutil to answer in my commons page because I stopped to collaborate with after sevral years because I don't share nothing with thieves and vandals.--jolle (talk) 16:17, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
