Just an update. The state of Armenia changed their laws in April 2013 and now Armenia has full Freedom of Panorama (FOP). Turkey also has FOP. I'm sorry that Azerbaijan still doesn't have COM:FOP but all the government in Baku needs to do is change its laws here.

Even limited FOP--as in the USA where there is FOP for all buildings and only limited FOP for modern 3D artwork (ie. sculptures) installed before 1978--is better than nothing. What an irony! No. They are not the same. Keygubad mosque is a square building with a dome. You can see it on the old photos and pictures. But in 1918 this mosque was destroyed during fire. And now there is only two columns and part of the wall. Seyid Yahya Bakuvi's Mausoleum is another building near the mosque. It as piramidal roof. --Interfase (talk) 09:49, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

Bir də, burda alman və fransız rəssamlarının işlərini də yükləmişəm. Vaxtınız olanda onları, bir də qravüraları da yerləşdirin, mümkünsə. Yaxın zamanlarda Ədəbiyyat muzeyinə gedib oranı da çəkmək istəyirəm. Bir də, mən də sizin ruvikidə yaratdığınız məqalə əsasında azviki, frviki və envikidə məqalələri inkişaf etdirməyi plalaşdırıram. Ancaq sizdən bir xahişim olacaq. Əgər hansısa fotonu Commonsda yerləşdirmək istəyirsinizsə, onu heç bir yerdə yerləşdirməyin, hətta loqo olsa və az həcmdə olsa belə. Sonra problemlər yaranır, bir də gəl başa sal ki müəllif sənsən.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2013

Hi Interfase. I have reverted your renaming of the event page Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 in Armenia & Nagorno-Karabakh. Please refrain from changing a (confirmed) event name without a discussion. Thank you.

Also please be aware that WLM is nothing political. Our aim is only cultural: we want to get free-licensed photos of as many as possible cultural and architectural monuments of the world. I think every Wikimedian - including Armenian and Azerbaijani Wikimedians - should be only happy if we can get also photos from the disputed region Nagorno-Karabakh. So I was happy when there was someone from Nagorno-Karabakh, who wanted to help organize WLM also in his home country.

I am also glad to see that there are some Azerbaijani Wikimedians who want to organize WLM as well. I hope you will manage to do that soon. If you need any help or advices I am willing to help you (the difficult thing is often to know how to get started). Of course you can also always try to cooperate with people from Nagorno-Karabakh. OK. But I added a flag of Azerbaijan on the line, cause Nagorno-Karabakh is de-jure part of Azerbaijan. Also take to attention and explain on this page that there is no Freedom of panorama in Azerbaijan (included Nagorno-Karabakh) and all monuments there which authors dead after 1943 will be deleted. Hello, please stop reverting WLM images of Nagorno-Karabakh. If you want to add categories you are welcome but by changing cultural heritage template you just leave the participants out of Armenian WLM competition, besides cause of your changes wrong info is given about the number of images uploaded from both countries. --Lilitik22 (talk) 15:28, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Interfase, those are HIDDEN categoroies, used for technical purposed, added by WLM tools and bots. You should not touch them unless your goal is to sabotage Wiki Loves Monuments contest. Armenia vs. Azerbaijan

Dear Multichill, I didn't remove things from the other country. I removed things which are not related to Armenia from the page of the monument in Azerbaijan. I don't fight about regions. I think it is unlogical when on the page of the monument which is not in Armenia we can see the am|template with Armenian flag or category with "in Armenia". And look at this. Some user adds category "Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Armenia". I removed it because it's not normal. As I said Armenia and Azerbaijan are different countries. Gavurgala as in Castle of the Gavurs? :) I think there must be a mistake in identifying Tigranakert ruins as "Gavurgala." The Tigranakert archaeological site was discovered and excavated in 2005 (while the Azerbaijani government has had no access to that region since 1993). Moreover, Tigranakert dates back to the Hellenistic period, but the era of Gavurgala is mentioned as Medieval, which means they can't be referring to the same structure. There's no any mistake. This exavation area's place is on the area of Gavurgala. There is an article about Gavurgala in Azerbaijan Soviet Encyclopedia and this object dates back to the period of Caucasian Albania (early middle ages). The name Gavurgala was given to this places later. By the way, Tigranakert (discovered in 2005?) was mentioned on the map of Caucasian Albania in the book of Kamilla Trever ("Essays on the history and culture of Caucasian Albania in the 4th century BC - 7th century BC", 1959). --Interfase (talk) 20:50, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Tigranakert is an entire ruined city, not a single castle. There's no way a city and a castle are the same. Even the Azerbaijani interwiki link from the Tigranakert article does not lead to "Gavurgala" but "Şahbulaq Qıfılı saray kompleksi" (btw, the Azerbaijani Wikipedia is the only one that names it differently and paints a whole different Caucasian Albanian history for it just like any other Armenian thing that has ever existed -- goes to say something about its objectivity, but that's a whole different story). Who says that Gavurgala is a castle? This is not a castle. This is an archeological site with the remains of the cemetry, of the temple and different buildings. If the name of this place is Gavurgala it doesn't mean that this is a castle ("qala"). This is just toponym. Interfase, so far you have not given any reason for identifying Tigranakert with "Gavurgala", except for you thinking "it's in the same area", when you have neither visited the region, not have coordinates to compare, and just in the last couple responses have contradicted yourself by saying other things are in the same area. On the other hand, there's ample evidence that they are not the same monument (era, discovery time, creators). And yet you insist on keeping {{Cultural Heritage Azerbaijan}} template there for some reason. I noticed that you have other similar edits as well, such as this. Here's a picture of Zhamharyan hospital (the file you modified) and here's a picture of "Khastakhana" building (with which you identified it, ID 5017). As you can see, there's not a single similarity between those two structures. Please refrain from adding the wrong heritage ID to monuments in your haste to add {{Cultural Heritage Azerbaijan}} to images of Nagorno-Karabakh on Commons. If you still want to add that template for whatever reason (containing a flag?) even if you don't know the monument ID, please at least add it without the wrong monument ID to later avoid further complications. But this article is about hospital building in another town, in Yevlakh, which started to build in 2012. So Xəstəxana is the generic word for hospital? I did a search of "Xəstəxana Shusha" and there were a lot of pictures that showed up, none of which corresponded to this building. WLM monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh / Azerbaijan: adding (additional) identifier templates

Hi, I kindly ask you to be informed about the recent decision of WLM international team about monuments in with double recognition, like in Nagorno-Karabakh. For instance:

• We can't add WLM identifier templates to an image, if the uploader does not want to participate in WLM (for instance like you do here).
• We can't add WLM template to an image, if the uploader only want to participate in country A (eg. WLM in Armenia & Nagorno-Karabakh) and not in country B (eg. Azerbaijan).
• If we don't know if an uploader wants to participate to country B, we can add the additional WLM template only in one of their images only as a "suggestion".

Thanks for information. But I think you didn't clearly understand one detail. The template {{Cultural Heritage Azerbaijan}} isn't WLM identifier template, it is Monuments identifier template and it is possible to add monument identifiers templates anytime to the pictures, since this actually depends on the fact that the given monument is officially recognized as cultural heritage by country X or Y. From Sochi to Baku

Hi Sander. Never mind about photos. Azerbaijan had only 4 athletes in Sochi. I would be surprised if you could made their photos. But in any case thanks for attempts. Azerbaijan is not winter country, so our performance in winter games was just formality. We are much likely in Summer Games. If you have a chance visit Azerbaijan next year, I can show you the city or help to find tickets. I also plan to go to some competitions. Categorization

Hi Interfase. Thank you for many photos of Prague monuments which you contribute to the WLM contest and to wiki projects with. I'm pleased you visited my city and country and have liking for them, greetings to Azerbaijan!

As I can see in past days, all your photos are categorized directly to the main category Cultural monuments in the Czech Republic even if they are categorized also into the appropriate subcategory already. Cultural monuments in the Czech Republic is a main category, it should contain none photos directly, all images should be moved into its subcategories as deep as possible. (See Commons:Categorization for more information). So-called over-categorization is considered as unwanted.

Gererallly, when you use UploadWizzard through the appropriate icon in a monument list of the appropriate city or district, the system should prefill automatically a suitable category for such a monument. You can seek for more suitable subcategory if exists but you should not add the main category of all Czech monuments. Cultural monuments in the Czech Republic is not meant as a "flat category" for all photos of all Czech monuments, its content should be organized in subcategories. The flat category of the contest is Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 and is filled automatically with files with the contest template.

If the over-categorization is not caused by you (you don't add the category intentionally) but by some tool you used, please specify your way of uploading. Such a bug should be corrected. --ŠJů (talk) 19:53, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks ŠJů. The category Cultural monuments in the Czech Republic is added authomatically and I should remove them from all my photos I upload. I understand that photos must be also in deep categories. But, sometimes I hadn't time to remove the main categories. But, I will do that. Thanks for notification. By the way. Prague is not only one city I have visited. This August I was also in Karlovy Vary, Karlstein and Kutna Hora. I will upload the photos made by me in this places in following days. Also I would like to invite you to Azerbaijan and make a lot of photos of our monuments. I'd like to be your guide in Baku and show a lot of our local monuments. I tested the UploadWizzard upload today using the upload icon at the monument list (this) at the Czech Wikipedia and the top category was not added automatically. Maybe, you use some different way how to open the UploadWizzard? You need not to remove the files from the category manually. ErgfoedBot should sort them everynight by ID number.

Hi Interfase, here Sander from the Netherlands, maybe you still remember me. During the 2014 Winter Olympics I tried to make some pictures from athletes from Azerbaijan and later I replied on your talk page that I was planning to come to the European Games. And you know, I'm coming! Are you also going to visit the European Games? Maybe we could meet and have a drink during the European Games! I also started watching several programs and reading some books about Baku and Azerbaijan. Sounds as a great country with a rich history, wow! And so besided of the sports events I'm also planning to go to cultural things like Yanar Dag. Do you know it is possible to visit Oil Rocks/Neft Daşları or some mud volcanoes? Hi Sander. I remember you of course. I would be very glad to see you in Baku. But due to my work schedule I will not be in Baku from 11th till 24th June. So, if you are planning to stay in Baku untill the end of the Games (25-28 June) we can meet during the games. You can visit Yanar Dag and mod volcanoes. But you will not be able to visit Oil Rocks. I was there once with special permission from SOCAR, because of my mastership program as I have Petroleum Geologist background. I advise you also to visit Gobustan Rock Arts Reserve. wiki loves earth coordination

Dear Wikimedia Chapter,

First of all I would like to say thank you for your willingness to run Wiki Loves Earth in your countries. Together we will do our best to highlight most interesting and memorable places in different parts of the world.

I am writing to find out if you need any assistance in participating in Wiki Loves Earth (WLE) 2015. For the past two years many countries joined WLE and the whole world saw the photos of wonderful nature of their countries!

The international team (CCed) will gladly help you with the following:

1) technical coordination - we have some tools that were used for Wiki Loves Earth last year. Wiki Loves Monuments tools are to be adapted as well

2) support with list conversion. If you have lists of natural monuments in any machine-readable format, we should be able to help you converting them into a wiki format. If you have no idea where to find lists of natural monuments, we may try to help as well, but we do not guarantee that we will be able to do it.

3) supporting your grant requests - it's up to you to write them, but we can provide help with them.

4) providing souvenirs - e.g. calendars, postcards with best photos after the contest or before/during it in order to use them in promotion

If you have doubts or you are in need of anything else, please do not hesitate to write me or the Project Team at team@wikilovesearth.org, and we will see how we can help you.

I am deeply convinced that together we will manage to show every significant natural monument of our countries to the rest of the word.

Картины Нариманбекова

Мы тут пытаемся разобрать для Викиданных статьи о картинах (d:User:Multichill/SOAP ruwiki monitor), и обнаружили, что в русской Википедии есть три статьи о картинах Тогрула Нариманбекова, в которых не указано их местонахождение (ru:Во имя жизни, ru:Мама (картина), ru:На эйлаге). Вы не знаете, где они сейчас находятся? Если бы ещё нашлись и ссылки (можно на азербайджанском), это бы очень нам помогло. Hi Interfase. I found your name in the list of users who can speak Azeri. I wanted to ask your help with Template:User. They might not be able to read the messages on their talk page which are in English.

The first message is informing them of a deletion discussion (about the copyright status of files from the Azerbaijan Red Book of species/flowers). The second message is asking Truffle-vanilla to please pause uploading of flower images while we have this discussion. I do not think he has read them because he has kept uploading files since.

Thank you Interfase. Could I ask you something and you let me know if it is possible for you to do? In regards to that Redbook discussion, I am generally of the opinion that the Redbook is a work of the state and is not copyrightable. But this would need verification of some sort. Also no other users have commented yet. I only ask this of you if you are interested, but would you be able to access a physical copy of the latest available edition of the Red Book? Like for example if it is in a local library. One idea I have is to look inside the credit pages of the book, to see what the publication notes are with respect to copyright. It may say the words "all rights reserved", or it may use the words "document of the state", I am not sure. My other idea is to reach out and make contact to the Ministry of Ecology or the National Academy of Science and make a formal request for clarification of the copyright status. I would assist with writing the communication so the burden would be shared. This second idea might be a bit harder or take longer than the first idea. But I welcome your thoughts. If either of this is too much or you do not personally have time, do not worry, I would completely understand. Thanks again for your time. Rename process

If you want to do the move yourself, you need to do two things:

• Move the category page using "move" tab from the top bar of the category page
• Move the included pages (files, subcategories, galleries etc.) from the old category to the new category !!!

You can use Cat-a-lot tool which can be activated in your personal preferences.

As a reason you have mentioned "false template". If you take a look at each and every single one of them you'll see that they are screenshots taken from YouTube videos (links provided in the source section) uploaded by the Media department of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. Videos have been published under the Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed).

As you can see, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the reuse of those image.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 - Ein Wiki-Beitrag für die Denkmaltopographie

Hallo Interfase,

vor zehn Tagen endete der vierte Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments. Du hast daran aktiv teilgenommen und wir möchten Dir dafür herzlich danken.

Mit mehr als 35 Tausend Fotos hat Deutschland wie in den Vorjahren ein gutes Ergebnis erreicht und einen Anteil von 14 % an diesem internationalen Projekt erbracht, an dem sich 40 Länder beteiligten. Sehr erfreulich ist die hohe Zahl an 651 Teilnehmern allein in Deutschland. Schon zum Abschluss des Wettbewerbs waren rund 6000 Fotos (=17 %) in Listen und Artikel eingebunden. Einen detaillierten Überblick zu den Fotos, den Bundesländern und Teilnehmern findest du auf unserer WLM-Projektseite.

Die deutsche Jury hat nun die eingereichten Beiträge übernommen und ist gegenwärtig dabei, diesen wertvollen Fotobestand zu den Kulturdenkmalen zu sichten. Am nächsten Wochenende wird in Hamburg die entscheidende Jury-Sitzung stattfinden. Wir wünschen auch Dir mit Deinem Foto-Beitrag dabei viel Glück und Erfolg. Du darfst gespannt sein und all Deine Freunde bitten, Dir die Daumen zu drücken.

Die preisgekrönten 100 Gewinner-Fotos werden in der Woche ab dem 20. Oktober veröffentlicht. Auf dieser Grundlage wird auch in diesem Jahr ein Kalender-Poster für 2015 gedruckt werden.

Auf zwei Möglichkeiten einer weiteren aktiven Mitwirkung an unserem Denkmal-Projekt möchten wir bei dieser Gelegenheit hinweisen bzw. Dich dazu einladen:

• Unsere Freunde in Österreich haben mit einem gerade gestarteten Denkmal-Cup das Editieren von Denkmallisten und Denkmalartikeln in den Focus gerückt. Bis Ende des Jahres kannst Du Punkte sammeln und Preise gewinnen. Dabei geht es mit diesem Wettbewerb nicht nur um Kulturdenkmale in AT oder D, sondern generell um Denkmale in der deutschsprachigen Wikipedia, als offen für alle Länder.

• Vom 6.-8. November findet erneut die Europäische Denkmalmesse in Leipzig statt. Mit Unterstützung von Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. werden wir zum zweiten Mal die Ergebnisse von Wiki Loves Monuments im Rahmen eines Standes sowie eines Workshops vorstellen.

WLM-Aktivisten sind herzlich eingeladen, bei der Betreuung des Messestandes sowie in den Gesprächen über Möglichkeiten einer partnerschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit mit den Denkmalbehörden mitzuwirken. Die Reisekosten übernimmt für 8-10 registrierte Standbetreuer WMDE. Es muss nicht der gesamte Messezeitraum sein, auch eine Mitwirkung an 2 Tagen hilft uns, den Beitrag der Wikipedia für die Denkmaltopographie sichtbar zu machen.

Und schließlich gilt: Nach dem Wettbewerb ist vor dem Wettbewerb. Bereits jetzt kann jeder mit der Planung von Wiki Loves Monuments 2015 beginnen. Wir freuen uns auf Deine weiteren Beiträge für Wikimedia-Projekte.

nun ist es wieder soweit. Vom 1. bis zum 30. September findet zum fünften Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Im Mittelpunkt steht bekanntlich das Fotografieren von Kulturdenkmalen. Du hast an einem der letzten Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen und wir freuen uns auf weitere Bildbeiträge von Dir.

Viele interessante Motive, nicht nur Burgen und Schlösser, sondern auch Fachwerkhäuser, Brücken und Brunnen, technische und Industriedenkmale und vieles mehr gibt es noch zu fotografieren, damit sie in der Wikipedia dokumentiert werden können. Nützliche Tipps findest du auf unserer WLM-Projektseite. Du kannst gerne individuell Fototouren durchführen oder aber Dich auch Gruppentouren anschließen. Besonders freuen wir uns auf Fotos, die Lücken in den Denkmallisten der Wikipedia ausfüllen.

I downloaded it and tried to get some sensible picture, but is is so small and so underexposed (and the others are like that) that I wonder why you bother to upload. You have not answered my why? Do you upload straight out of camera without looking at the result? In that case, change your routine.
