Hello, Jean-Marc Pascolo!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

File:Norbert Festor conseiller municipal à Carling de 1965 à 1971.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Jean-Marc Pascolo (talk) 11:02, 3 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

File:Monteaperta et palazzo Cobai.jpg edit

Hi Jean-Marc, did you really shoot the original photography of which File:Monteaperta et palazzo Cobai.jpg is a reproduction? If not, who is the photographer? Where did you get it? --Túrelio (talk) 07:45, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes it was my own shoot but only a bad copy of a old paper photography because negative is lost during terrible earthquake 1976. No problem.Jean-Marc Pascolo (talk) 08:06, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
O.k., could you then add the date (year) of the original shot to the date entry in the description, as the reproduction date is of no interest. Thanks. --Túrelio (talk) 08:10, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
But who is the photographer of the original photography, of which you made the reproduction? --Túrelio (talk) 07:36, 21 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Catégorisation de vos images edit

Bonjour. Merci d'avance. Mel22 (talk) 18:20, 16 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jean-Marc Pascolo, surely you did not shoot the original photo. Where did you get it? --Túrelio (talk) 20:15, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Louise Bloch sent this photo to my gran-parents in Carling before the last World War as gift and souvenir. Regards, Jean-Marc Pascolo
Well, then you cannot write "own work" and that you are the author. You need to research to date, when this photo (the original) has been shot/created.

Jean-Marc Pascolo (talk) 08:12, 6 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cordialement, Jean-Marc Pascolo (talk) 08:12, 6 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
