Hello!

Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Wat veel Feyenoord?

Zijn dit niet wat veel plaatjes van Feyenoord? Ik wil je niet ontmoedigen, maar Commons is bedoeld voor plaatjes voor Wikipedia, en het is geen Feyenoord-fansite. Met vriendelijke groet, MartinD 12:29, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Dank voor je reactie op mijn overlegpagina, collega! Ten dele heb je gelijk, maar is 1 foto niet voldoende als illustratie van het artikel over die voetballer? (Ik geef overigens toe dat je hier best wel situaties tegenkomt waarin er -tig foto's van hetzelfde onderwerp worden geupload, dus je kunt je zeker op "precedent" beroepen.) Volgens mij zijn we het ongeveer eens.;) Nee, kijk, het ging me er maar om dat het een beetje beheersbaar blijft, qua omvang. Als iemand, wanneer hij een foto uploadt, op dat moment een idee heeft "die ga ik in die-en-die pagina gebruiken", vind ik het prima. Maar er zijn wel eens lui de deur uitgezet wegens "niet te stopen zijn": iemand die het hele familiealbum aan kiekjes, vanaf 1930, erop kiepte, bijvoorbeeld. Hi Knurftendans! Thanks for your picture of Nuri Sahin (Image:Nuri Sahin 009.jpg). I'd like to know, if there's a possibility to get a bigger (not more pixel, more background) version of this one. I tried to rotade the pic (the background shows, that it has to be rotated a few degrees to the left). So I tried, but therefore more "space" is necessarily upon Nuris' head... Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Your account will be renamed

Hello,

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Knurftendans. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Knurftendans~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.

Other Feyenoord images has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!
