Re: 'L' pictures edit

Thanks for the pictures. Whenever I use the 'L' I've been trying to take photos for Wikipedia, but I mostly use the lines on the north side of Chicago. So I was glad to see that you had some photos from the south side, particularly as, rather than get photographs of the entire system, I think that it is desirable to get representative photos from each part of the system. —JeremyA 00:08, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi again! I'm sorry, I just realised that I never replied to a message that you left me about a month ago. As far as I can tell, the CTA does not know what its picture policy is. There is a sort of explanation at CTA Tattler. Basically I think that if they think you are a tourist they are supposed to ignore you; however, they may stop you if they think you may be a professional photographer, or if they think that you are taking too much interest in the CTA infrastructure, or if they think that your activities are potentially hazardous (e.g. you are in the way, or doing something that might distract the drivers). I got asked to stop shortly after taking this photo, but I was sat at the front of the train (I learnt my lesson, and I have since sat at the back whenever I want to take some pictures). —JeremyA 05:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
BTW. I liked your pictures of Sheffield at flickr (my home town).

Thanks! LHOON 06:20, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Hello LHOON, can you please add Categories to all of your pictures? Otherwise these pictures cannot be found by other Wikipedians. Thanks in advance, Arafi 08:20, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, LHOON!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
