Dear Eugene, Thanks for your mail. Actually, I own all the concerned photos. They come from my private family collections. Others are part of Monseigneur Massaux's private archives that he bequeathed to me. Those photos have been made at his express demand. He died in 2008. Having been his close friend for decades,I promised him to use these photos properly and for education purpose. The photos related to my father, Victor Michel, including the document from the german army general Reeder in occupied Belgium during WW II, are personal documents of my father who died in 1982. If I can not use those photos on Wikimedia who actually may. I am sure you will understand my arguments. Sincerely yours Luc MICHEL--83.134.74.72 16:14, 27 January 2015 (UTC)--83.134.74.72 16:14, 27 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Luc, Thank you for your contributions and sorry that a rocky start here. First thing would be to clarify, if you own the copyrights to the above photos (not just the copies of the photographs). You own copyrights to the photographs you took or to photographs Monseigneur Massaux took if you inherited them. You do not own copyrights to images you or Monseigneur Massaux collected somehow, the original photographers still own those. If you do own copyrights to any of them than please read COM:OTRS and send a email to OTRS with permission form discussed there. Than you can reupload the images or contact me (best on my talk page) and I will undelete them. Other files like German WWII documents might be in public domain, In this case they might fall under {{PD-GermanGov}}. Please read COM:LIC and COM:CT for more info or contact me and I can try to help. Best wishes. --Jarekt (talk) 14:26, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
In case of your photographs by your father you should use

The heirs of this work's copyright holder (usually the creator) have released it into the public domain. This applies worldwide.

In some countries this may not be legally possible; if so:

The heirs of the creator grant anyone the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law.

license (if it is OK with you to release them to Public domain). --Jarekt (talk) 14:34, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dear Jarekt, Thank you for your reply and your effort to get me on the right track after this rocky start. I will try to answer properly to your questions and requests. All the documents we are dealing with are personal photography's documents belonging to my personal archives accumulated over the years from my father personal archives and from Monseigneur Massaux's who gave me all his personal archives before his death. I got others from his gouvernante, Mrs Reygel, after his death. Then, while I was writing my articles on Victor Michel and Monseigneur Massux for Wikipedia, I made scanned copy of the photos in order to send them to Wikimedia and to put them in the public domain mentionning that they came from my personal archives. All documents are old documents (some very old) with no copyright that I know of (and my father as well as Monseigneur Massaux never mentionned any copyright to me). At this late stage it is also impossible to put a name on the photographers who took the photos. They are probably dead also. In the past, many such photos (namely of Victor Michel and of Monseigneur Massaux) have been used by other people on the web or in books without any permission or reference. However, mine are different and original. As for the German WWII documents they might be in public domain as you mention; but first of all they were in the personal archives of my father as those WWII letters have been addressed to him.

Anyway, I would like to thank you for offering me your help. I am rather surprised by the amount of hurdles I have to overcome before getting those educational and interesting documents in wikipedia articles, considering the amount of stupid things we can find on the web. Dear Jarekt, it would be very nice if you could be instrumental in the undeletion process of those documents. I really need your understanding and your help in the labyrinth of this numeric field. Best Regards Luc MICHEL--Luc.arthur.michel (talk) 13:12, 2 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dear Jarekt, After checking the commons licensing site you indicated me, I noticed that I can upload photos of public figures and people photographed in public places. I also confirm that I am sharing my work and documents on Wikimedia commons. By doing so, I grant anyone permission to use all of them: be it in public places or private space (ie. family and personal archives). Many thanks for your help.
