Wikidata logo proposal

Hi! :)

Hi Lydia, you should write the author at User_talk:Benbois - he will likely not look at your talk page for messages for him. ;-) The author does not seem to be very active for some reason. Hinters Communety's Rücken

Hallo, Mir ist zu Ohren gekommen dass bereits an Wikibase für Commons gearbeitet wird und anscheinend sollen Tags (anstatt Cats?) in den Nächten Jahren hier eingeführt werden. Anscheinend schafft es WMDE nichts onwiki zu diskutieren, ein völlig verfehlte Kommunikation. Ich möchte nochmal klar machen dass solchhe "tags" nicht ohne Communety Consensus eingeführt werden dürfen. Dess weitere Frage ich mich warum Leute an Wikibase für Commons arbeiten die von Commons anscheinend kaum was verstehen? Auch anzumerken ist dass die Verwenderung des Kategorysistemes auf Commons völlig inakzeptabel ist, dort steckt jahrelange Arbeit drinnen.
Ich habe auch zu meta:Wikimedia_Deutschland/2015_annual_plan/de/Ziele einige Fragen. Was ist mit "schnelleres und gezielteres Suchen und Auffinden von Bildern" gemeint und wie wie wollt ihr das umsetzen?
Um es nochmal klar zu sagen: Es gibt keinen consensus dass Commons eine Verschlagwortung will... Wie soll diese Verschlagwortung denn aussehen? --Steinsplitter (talk) 06:51, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Steinsplitter

Wie bereits mehrfach gesagt (zB in der IRC Sprechstunde) ist es nicht mein Plan Kategorien abzuschalten. Der Plan ist es ein besseres System anzubieten und dann kann das dahin migriert werden wofür es Sinn macht während für den Rest auch weiterhin Kategorien verwendet werden können. Was das genau ist müssen wir - um genau zu sein die Commons Community - herausfinden. Meine Hoffnung ist das das neue System so viel besser ist, dass auf lange Sicht ein großer Teil der Kategorien dahin migriert wird. Genau so wie wir das auch bei der Wikidata-Integration auf Wikipedia machen. Keine Wikipedia ist gezwungen Wikidata zu verwenden. Und mir ist durchaus bewusst, dass im aktuellen Kategoriesystem jahrelange Arbeit steckt. Das heißt doch aber nicht, dass man es nicht verbessern kann. Und es heißt auch nicht, dass bei einer Verbesserung diese jahrelange Arbeit einfach weggeschmissen wird. Siehe auch hier wieder Wikipedia. Da ist auch jahrelange Arbeit in die Befüllung der Infoboxen geflossen. Diese wurde nicht einfach weggeschmissen - ganz im Gegenteil.

Wir haben nächste Woche ein einwöchiges Planungstreffen mit Commons Communitymitgliedern und Entwicklern. Am Ende dessen haben wir einen klareren Vorschlag für einen Plan der besser erklärt ist und den wir gemeinsam diksutieren können. Wir haben bisher Vorstellungen. Diese wurden bereits veröffentlicht und Kommentare dazu aufgenommen und beatnwortet. Das ist der aktuelle Stand der Dinge. Mehr dann Endde der Woche oder übernächste Woche. Wir haben auch eine weitere IRC Sprechstunde angesetzt für den 16. Oktober (weitere Verbreitung der Ankündigung folgt morgen oder übermorgen) bei der Fragen dazu beantwortet werden können. Ein RfC wurde schon vor einer Weile gestartet hier auf Commons. Das ist der komplette aktuellen Arbeits/Planungsstand.

Zum Jahresplan: Das ist das Ziel. Wie genau das umgesetzt wird ist noch nicht im Detail geplant. Das kommt jetztals nächstes.

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open!

Dear Lydia Pintscher (WMDE),

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.
