File names

はじめまして。Could you please move these file names? #1 and #2. They are not images of Wakuya. As for #1 image, it's Miyako. Please see this talk. Actually I e-mailed the US Navy and asked for correction of #1 image. As for #2, someone corrected the description and it's Otsuchi. Now the US Navy changed the captions. [1] and [2]. Counting votes on PTOY

Hi Miya, I'd like to thank you for the work you're doing for POTY and ask you a question: I went over first 130 votes over this nomination of my image.From all votes that were marked as failed only one was actully that failed. All the votes I listed below are OK. I am sure the same situation applies to other nominations. I believe the votes should be recounted only if the results are really close, and re-count will make a differnce between getting or not getting to the final round. Best wishes.

Some thougts on the voting for the next year

Hi Miya, I'd like to share with you some thoughts about POTY 2011 voting procedure please. I believe the first round should not be divided by categories and the pictures that are chosen to the final round should be chosen not according to their place in a category but according to their place in all pictures contest. Hi, Mbz1. Do you know the system of POTY 2007? I think the galleries should be divided to categories so that voters would be able to compare similar images. But I can agree the latter part of your opinion, "the pictures that are chosen to the final round should be chosen not according to their place in a category but according to their place in all pictures contest", which would be more suitable for our hackers to operate their counting tools,too. Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

POTY - Results

Hi miya.

Since that thing with double votes was bugging me, i decide to count then all to see if anything change. The result is here User:Wikitanvir/POTY2010#By_picture.

As you can see, the first 8 places don't change, and the 9 and 10 switch places if we count or not the doubles. So i believe we can announce the results, right?

はじめまして、Yasu と申します。今回、Miya さんのこちらの書き込みを拝見し、不審に感じた点がありましたのでこちらでお伺いしたくやって参りました。

上記の書き込みでは、あるファイルをアップロードしたユーザ自身がそのファイルを削除したくなった場合、"uploader request" という理由で即時削除を依頼できる、ということですが、私の理解する限り、投稿者自身の依頼というだけの理由でファイルが即時削除されることはないはずです。削除の方針でも、ファイルが即時削除されうる理由として明記されているのは「壊れていたりウイルスに感染している」「以前に通常の削除依頼によって削除されている」「もっぱら荒らし・スパムを目的としている」の 3 ケースのみで、「投稿者本人が削除を依頼したもの」は含まれていません。ノートでの議論によれば、「誤って違うファイルをアップロードしてしまった」場合は本人の依頼で即時削除することも可能のようですが、これも「本来アップロードすべきものとは別のファイルだから」という理由が存在するからであって、ただ単に投稿者が削除してほしいと言っているから削除してよいというわけではないように思います。

Miya さんは管理者でいらっしゃるので、もしかして私の知らない削除の方針の例外規定などをご存知なのかもしれませんし、また、ひょっとすると削除の方針は字義通りでなくもっと弾力的に運用されているのかもしれません。もしそのような例外を記載している文書や、実際に削除の方針にない理由でファイルが削除されている具体例などがありましたら、後学のために示していただければ幸いです。よろしくお願いします。Yasu (talk) 14:56, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

お答えありがとうございました。それであれば、やはり「権利侵害がある」という理由を明記させるべきで、それがない単なる "uploader request" だけではやはり削除は認められないと思います。またそもそも権利侵害が理由であるならば、削除を依頼するのが誰であろうと構わないわけですから、この場合わざわざ投稿者本人に依頼させる必要もないのではと考えました。とは言え、Miya さんならば先刻ご承知のことかもしれません。もともとそのようなつもりでおっしゃっていたのでしたら、釈迦に説法、大変失礼いたしました。Yasu (talk) 15:58, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

いえいえ。今回は、投稿者自身による即時削除タグから削除タグへの付け替えを見て、ご本人も問題ありと考えてくださったのかな、それなら削除タグに貼りかえるより即時削除タグを貼るほうが早いのに・・・と思ったために呼びかけたものです。ご本人に削除希望がないとわかっていればしなかったでしょう。それでも第三者視点からのご意見はとてもありがたいです。今後ともお気づきの点がありましたらぜひお願いします。--miya (talk) 00:46, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

POTD

I'd suggest channeling POTD information through {{Assessments}} template. This would make it possible for us to quickly micromanage files. For instance this would allow us to manage which POTY finalists and winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd) do not have a POTD assigned to them.
