Notification about possible deletion edit

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This is my own photograph taken of an object of common interest in a public space in Paris. I don't understand why it should be considered for deletion. Munfarid1 (talk) 08:02, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I just added the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence given in the source of this file and hope, this is sufficient. Thanks for pointing this out. The same applies for the next three files. - The permission for File:Ibrahim El-Salahi by Issam Abdelhafiez.jpg has been granted by email to VRT team, still pending approval for Ticket#: 2022121910008509]. Read this message in your language

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

About your contributions / Au sujet de vos contributions edit

Hello   / Bonjour

ENG : I noticed that you visited the Oudaya Jewelry and Ornament Museum due to several files that you uploaded on Wiki Commons. These files are indescribably rich. Thank you for sharing them on Wiki Commons !

I am responsible for categorizing and enriching the "Morocco" category on the platform by adding photographs on Morocco and photos of the Moroccan Caftan.

I know that there are Caftans at the Oudayas Museum that you visited. Have you taken photos of these Caftans that you could post on Wiki Commons ?

Your contributions help us a lot!

Sincerely.

Cordialement. Littlexiaogui (talk) 14:18, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello and thanks for your friendly message. Unfortunately, my pictures of the few caftans at this museum are of very low quality, taken on a smartphone during my visit. If I find any images of caftans in the future, I will upload them. You probably also saw the article on the museum I started. I would be happy to see it translated into French and Arabic. ;) Best regards, Munfarid1 (talk) 15:37, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Munfarid1
Thank you so much, you're awesome !

If you have images of Morocco, Moroccan cuisine, traditions, clothes, don't hesitate to share them with us !

If you would like to visit some Moroccan museums, here is a list of museums where Moroccan Caftans can be found :
- Bab Okla Ethnographic Museum - Tetouan
- Dar Jamai Museum, Meknes
- Dar Si Said Museum, Marrakech
- Marrakech Museum, Marrakech
- Moroccan Jewish Museum, Casablanca : (there are very interesting Moroccan clothes: Keswa el kbira, Caftan ntaâ etc...)
- Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts, Marrakech (I am not sure that there are Caftans in this one, on the other hand, there are Amazigh clothes which can enrich the enlopedia like the Handira cape)
- Oudayas Museum, Rabat
- Belghazi Museum, Fez

We need images of Moroccan Caftans and the different "Chedda" worn by Moroccan brides who are in Moroccan museums, we are counting on you to share the images as soon as you have the images :)

For my part, I would do my best to travel to Morocco and visit these museums to be able to share the photos.

You did a good job on the Oudayas Museum article   Yes, I can translate the content into French and Arabic, I will add this task to my diary (My contributions on the French Wikipedia and my draft), I will do it soon

Best regards. Littlexiaogui (talk) 19:18, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello Littlexiaogui, thank you very much for your friendly reply and your willingness to translate the article on the museum in the Oudayas. I usually write in English, as this is read by many more people in comparison to other languages. But I like to do research in French, Spanish, Arabic or my native language German in order to let English-speaking readers know how people of other languages see the world from a different cultural perspective.- I also fully agree whith what you wrote on your personal page on the ideological Arabisation of North Africans and support the right of anybody to their native language to be accepted as a human and individual heritage. - As you are working on an article about the Moroccan Berber Akhnif, I will upload some images by the end of this month, as well as others of Moroccan caftans and sfiffa embroidery and mdamma belts. Finally, you might enjoy these articles I started some time ago: Jewellery of the Berber cultures and Jean Besancenot. His book on Costumes du Maroc is a real treasure, but unfortunately, we cannot upload any of its images on Commons for copyright reasons! - Anyway, I will keep an eye on your contributions to Moroccan fashion, as this is a common interest. Best regards and bsalama, Munfarid1 (talk) 21:15, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Munfarid1

Thank you for your time, your efforts and your contributions regarding the Amazigh heritage of Morocco

Personally, I don't speak English well enough to allow myself to write articles in English unfortunately but on the other hand, I am able to translate them (into French and Arabic) because it's easier, so you can count on me

You are right, articles in English are read more than those written in other languages. I think that once I have refined the French article of the Moroccan Caftan (Caftan marocain), it will be necessary to translate it because currently, the Moroccan Caftan does not have page in English while Morocco has submitted the registration file for the Moroccan Caftan to UNESCO and it will be officially registered in 2025

But before translating it into English, I must first work on it in French because I find that the article is too short and does not highlight the cultural and historical richness of the different Moroccan Caftans.

It's great that you are multilingual, I am too and for my part, I actively participate on the Wikipedia in French and Arabic

Yes, I am deeply anti-Arabization because we are Amazigh and proud to be
Above all, because Arabtion is an ideological propaganda which wishes to suppress, censor, make our Amazigh heritage disappear and make it Arab, it is a cultural and identity genocide.

Ho thank you so much for your future contributions concerning the sfifa, l3akad, the Moroccan Caftan and the Akhnif
Currently, I managed to find an image of the Akhnif that I can use, I even managed to find enough content to create a category dedicated to the Akhnif on Commons
But if you have other photos of Akhnif, don't hesitate to share them.

Your contribution to the article "Jewellery of the Berber cultures" is precious and very detailed ! You did a great job
You just forgot the Imazighen of the Canary Islands, yes, in the "history" category of the article, you wrote: "In their documented history, going back to prehistoric times, the different indigenous Berber peoples of North Africa, ranging from the Siwa Oasis in Egypt to Morocco and Mauritania" = the Imazighen populations do not stop in Morocco and Mauritania
There are also the Guanches who inhabited the Canary Islands, islands located 80km from the coast Atlantics of Morocco (the Guanches suffered a genocide in the 16th century at the hands of the Spanish who took the opportunity to take the Canary Islands). Some residents claim to be survivors and claim to be Amazigh and descendants of Guanche survivors.

The Amazigh identity of the Canaries is still present !   in fact, many terms from Tamazight have been incorporated into Canarian Spanish. The Amazigh identity is also present through culture such as the Canarian carnival Los Carneros de Tidagay which resembles that of Morocco "boujloud" which is of Amazigh origin   There are also the gigantic statuses of the Guanche kings in Tenerife like King Tegueste.

Furthermore, the Canarians still eat Goffio, a dish of Amazigh origin.
Because of Arabization, many Amazigh do not know that the Guanches existed and that the Canary Islands are our islands

I recently became interested in Amazigh jewellery from the Rif ethnic group of Morocco (I am a Riffian), unfortunately, the sources are difficult to find. There is a report that talks about it, in particular on an imposing Rifian jewelry “the Fakroun” (it is a Spanish documentary and subtitled in French).

Furthermore, due to the fact that the Moroccan government has long neglected the Rif region, we do not have a museum and everything that remains is disappearing, threatened by the Arabization and neglect of this region by the Moroccan authorities

Jean Besancenot did remarkable work in Morocco, but it is a shame that he too did not extend his intellectual quest among the Riffians, because Besancenot visited many regions in Morocco but he ignored the Rif.
A study by Besancenot about Riffian clothing would have been very valuable for the preservation of this heritage but unfortunately, he did not go to the Rif...

Anyway, if you need anything, don't hesitate to discuss it with me, beslama   Littlexiaogui (talk) 15:57, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
A bientôt, Munfarid1 (talk) 22:05, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
