Canceling a deletion on x-ray image edit

Hello,

Some time after uploading this image https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:X-ray_of_hand,_where_bone_age_is_automatically_found_by_BoneXpert_software.jpg, it got flagged for deletion. A user in chat, +Dragonfly6-7 promoted me to write to you to resolve this issue.

I now see that the flag for speedy deletion is gone, but am still writing to ensure that the image is not removed. The image has been uploaded to replace a very old version of our software. It is more accurate and detailed than the previous image.

My current position is director of development on the product BoneXpert, and we are happy and proud to see that the previous image has also been shared widely on Wikipedia. If necessary my my authenticity can be proven by contacting me on vilic@visiana.com (https://www.linkedin.com/in/adnanvilic/ )— Preceding unsigned comment added by Setzner1337 (talk • contribs) 01:21, 19 October 2020‎ (UTC)Reply

Hi Setzner1337, I had copyright concerns as the image seems to be a screenshot of the image on this website [1]. Thus I had marked it with the deletion flag, however failed to use the template correctly, so it was not clear why I believed it should be deleted.
In the meantime there seems to be good reason to believe, that you as the uploader are the original copyright holder. I am not sure tbh if there is something for you to follow, to officially put that into record and avoid having someone else mark it for deletion again. Maybe reach out again to DragonflySixtyseven. File:Felix Raj with Dr. Abdul Kalam former President of India.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Unlawful claim edit

It's my own work what do you mean copyright violation Lwansamulenga (talk) 20:28, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Lwansamulenga, the files I flagged for deletion had been copyright violations as they could be found somewhere else on the internet, or screenshots of something that is likely to be copyrighted. Let me know which file specifically you are referring to. Then I can advise you on the issue. --Njd-de (talk) 20:40, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Copy right holder edit

Hi Njd-de,

Please note that I have copy right for the photos published.

How can I release media content under a free license?

Please let me know if anything else is requested to keep the images on the page.

I appreciate your prompt response.

Thank you, — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 06:25, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi AbdM1972, please have a look at Commons:OTRS to see how to confirm permission of the image upload to Wikimedia Commons. In the case you are not the original photographer, this should be done by the original photographer. I do wonder however that you say you have the copyrights for the images. Is it possible that you mean your employer holds the copyrights? Njd-de (talk) 08:23, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the message, yes we have the copy right as all the images belong to us and we can send an email containing all the images with their details for your reference. Please let me know if this can help and we appreciate if you can wait before deleting them until we give you the license needed. Apart from that, these photos are not causing any copy-right violation and they are not duplicated on Google for your kind consideration. @Njd-de
For Commons:OTRS , it is requesting to send an email, we will do that. Is there anything else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 08:56, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@AbdM1972: Copyright is not only about the image not showing up on Google already. It is also a copyright violation if the original author didn't release the image under a free license, and e.g. File:2O3A0447.jpg even contains the name of the photographer in the EXIF data.
Who is "we" and "us"? What exactly is your relation to H.E. Al-Gergawi? Njd-de (talk) 09:15, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi Njd-de, I am interested in documenting various events so I got these images from the source and I got the copy-right to release them. All the photos are released under free-license, which was a mandatory option once uploading them.
What do you suggest or advise to keep the images? and can you please explain the concern and how they are harming the platform?
Looking for your kind response,, — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 15:54, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi AbdM1972, the simple but serious concern is that the original copyright holders have not released the images under a free license. What do you mean by "I got these images from the source"? Njd-de (talk) 16:42, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can you please explain what you mean by "the original copyright holder release the images under a free license", and how can this be done? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 16:51, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@AbdM1972: Please review the license policy at Commons:License. Also you are evading my questions about who is "we" and "us", your relation to H.E. as well as what you mean with "images from the source". Njd-de (talk) 16:58, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, Njd-de, I appreciate your response but I am trying to get a clear idea from you. I mean myself, and the purpose of this conversation is to guide me to how to release the images under a free license, but it is turning into Q & A. The guide you give me I will do to solve this and save our time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 17:07, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
-It is unfortunate that you have nominated all photos for deletion. The ones you said have different authors, that is alight, but for the ones I own, why did you nominate them for deletion? My own photos with my name and release license should not be deleted as they do not violate the copy right. Can you take them out from the deletion category please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 17:20, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
You may discuss the deletion at Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by AbdM1972. In the meanwhile I will leave them nominated for deletion, as there is no good reason to believe that you are the photographer and original copyright holder. Njd-de (talk) 17:30, 27 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi Njd-de, can you please provide me with your email to reach you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 05:38, 29 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello AbdM1972, communication in Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia or Commons is preferred in public, e.g. on a talkpage like this. If there is something you like to discuss due to its confidentiality you may send an email using the "Email this user"-function. Njd-de (talk) 15:20, 29 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Njd-de,, you have used my conversation on clarification with you during our communication in your talkpage and take it to the noticeboard without my permission to serve a different matter and give analysis, at the expense of information’s privacy, though some meta information was exposed accidently such as location of photo taken or names(and you did not take author's approval to expose their identity there).

Please note that according to Wikipedia’s polices Wikipedia:Requests for oversight this is considered as an intention breach a for somebody's privacy, or defame somebody. I kindly urge you to retract the comment on WP:COIN . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_oversight — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 07:07, 2 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

In support for the above and how you have handled our conversation, For Commons:User pages, Read the below for Userpage Content Guidelines:

    • User pages are not exempt from policies that apply sitewide. This means especially
  • Harassment or privacy violation that might lead to users being blocked from editing.

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:User_pages — Preceding unsigned comment added by AbdM1972 (talk • contribs) 09:05, 2 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello AbdM1972, none of this has been harassment. I would like to remind you that it was you uploaded the pictures in the first place, and you claimed you were the author of them. So if you are concerned that these people's privacy was breached, then that's on you. The metadata information was public to everyone. Highlighting the fact that these images have been created by different people was not harassment or an attempt of outing. Regarding the COIN post: I don't see any reason to retract my post there. You are still invited to comment there though, and clarify your relation to the article subject in question. Njd-de (talk) 21:03, 3 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Coup of Gods edit

Hello dear manager. This photo is the cover of the album "Coup of Gods" and has been freely published in Billboard and Fox News sources. (In the first step, we can confirm that this volume is related to this album.)

https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/9630715/mehdi-rajabian-prison-new-album-grammy-harvey-mason

https://www.foxnews.com/world/iran-mehdi-rajabian-album-risking-imprisonment.amp

Its quality is 300 KB and this quality is free to publish on Wiki.

We have the official full copyright letter of this file and we can send it to you. This means that the copyright of this album is completely with the composer and producer.

Thank you for your help in this regard. Desinge098 (talk) 23:44, 26 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello again, dear manager. This version has a lower quality, is there any problem using it? Thank you for your

help ‌‌. Thank you Dear

File:Coup of Gods album Cover.png Desinge098 (talk) 00:05, 27 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Desinge098. The question is not whether the composer/producer has the copyright of the album cover. The issue is that you uploaded them crediting them as your own work which is highly unlikely. Also it raises the question how you are related to account Mif.dang, and how you are related to the musician en:Mehdi Rajabian. Njd-de (talk) 00:19, 27 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dear manager, thank you very much for your answer and guidance.

I am the program manager of Mehdi Rajabian. I can even send you a message via his Instagram, which has a certificate, so you can be sure. Mehdi Rajabian is a banned composer. He spent many years in prison and was temporarily released on a hunger strike. He is currently under house arrest. As mentioned in Billboard and Fox News Magazine, this cover of the album is a complete copyright with Rajabian ‌. In any case, we can give you proof. If needed, Mehdi Rajabian can give you an official letter via his email.

I will mention several other sources for you to know more about this.

Please help us, we in Iran have limited access to the free world. thanks a lot.

Removing Information and Source from my images and Uploads and Tagging them for addition of the same information you have removed edit

User was blocked as sock of Izaaqnewton. Njd-de (talk) 15:46, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello @ User:Njd-de, i have just noticed that you are removing details from my uploads, and at the same time putting tags that require me to add picture details, despite you removing the picture , If you have any issues with me, kindly let me know other than playing such funny games boss.

I have also realized that you have also noted that image can't be from Uganda Times, despite me having included a direct link from where i downloaded the pictures from. I believe that without any doubt, you may be having some issues with me may be, kindly let me know how if i have unknowingly offended you in any way. Where on Wikipedia is it written that a user should remove image details and again tag the same images requiring the uploader to add the same information you have removed? Check out in the History what you are doing. Please respect other editors and Kindly desist from this habit. BLaurain (talk) 12:41, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello BLaurain, I removed them as these details are incorrect, and this is a case of license laundering.
As indicated in my edit summaries these images cannot have been retrieved from Uganda Times. In both cases the images are of less quality there than the ones you uploaded. Also what's your explanation for the image on Uganda Times being watermarked, and your upload not having the watermark ? Njd-de (talk) 12:58, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@ Njd-de, Firstly, I have read about License laundering which is explained as taking an image with a non-free copyright status (a disallowed, thus undesirable trait) and uploading it, without permission from the copyright holder, to a website that claims to release it under a free license. but contrary to that, The Uganda Times under its Usage of images, videos, audio and web texts (Copyright Summary) permits use, reproduction in any medium and additionally allows adaptation without affecting or impairing the use of the original Uganda Times material by others under Creative Commons license. and they conclusively advise contacting them on info@ugandatimes.ug for any further clarifications or doubts on the above, hence license laundering has not in any way been done, but you can however guide me in further Boss. BLaurain (talk) 14:17, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Secondly https://ugandatimes.ug/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Mr.Hamis-Kiggundu..jpg I downloaded that image from that link on Uganda Times, Usually heavy Uploads are scaled(resized) in order to reduce image size for the social networks to easily fetch the image and the Original Upload is always kept, well as the rescaled one is watermarked, and for my case i used the original and not the scaled(resized one) one that is watermarked. I updated the image and included the links to other versions including the watermarked one, all on the uganda times website
Unless You want me to Upload a cropped version of the Rescaled one as well! BLaurain (talk) 13:20, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Tony Quinn, leader of EDUCO.jpg edit

I am confused; this is my first media-upload. I own this photo Tony_Quinn,_leader_of_EDUCO.jpg and source and author were added to description page but "no source" has been added. Please advise Nofoolie (talk) 22:59, 18 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nofoolie, it's clearly visible that this is an image taken of a printed photograph. Vital source information like the original photographer and original date of taking the picture is missing. That's why I tagged the image for incorrect/missing source info. Njd-de (talk) 23:07, 18 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrol given edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 15:14, 4 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
