Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hochladedatum

Leider fehlt bei deinen Bildern immer das Datum der Erstellung (z.B 2011-mm-tt). Könntest du das bitte nachtragen ? --JonnyBrazil (talk) 15:49, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Ich ersetze das Datum nur wenn es vom Hochladedatum abweicht, was in letzter Zeit kaum vorgekommen ist. Ich glaube der genaue Tag ist bei Denkmalen die ein paar hundert Jahre alt sind nicht relevant. Hallo PLauppert, File:Bearbeitungsstand_Denkmale_Österreichs_nach_Gemeinden_gesamt.svg ist sehr nett, schön was da alles geht. Ich glaube aber, dass Warth (Niederösterreich) und Warth (Vorarlberg) von der Verlinkung her auf jeden Fall, aber dann auch vermutlich von den Daten her vertauscht sind. Aufnahmedatum

Hallo Peter, irgendwie ist es schade, dass du kein Aufnahmedatum bei den Fotos angibst. Exif datum finde ich auch keines. Gerade bei den Denkmalbildern finde ich es interessant, wann das Foto aufgenommen wurde, d.h. welchen Zustand das Foto da dokumentiert. Aufnahmedatum

Hallo Peter, habe deine Änderung in de:Vorlage:Denkmalliste Österreich Tabellenzeile wieder rückgängig gemacht (Disk). Die Versorgung des Aufnahmedatums mit dem Hochladedatum war zu fehleranfällig, die Daten eher zufällig. Jetzt wird kein Datum automatisch eingefügt, weder 2011-mm-tt noch das Aufnahmedatum. Ich hoffe, das ein Bot das Datum dann aus dem Exif-Datum ergänzt, so vorhanden. Bei deinen Bildern ist eher kein Exif-Datum vorhanden, darf ich dich bitten, das Aufnahmedatum beim Hochladen zu versorgen (bzw. nachzutragen, etwa bei diesem Bild). Es wäre auch schön, wenn du bei deinen Bildern aus dem Herbst das Aufnahmedatum, so du es noch weißt, nachtragen könntest. danke lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 20:46, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Ich weiß nicht ob dass so gut ist. Der Aufwand für das Hochladen erhöht sich damit. Und ich bin mir sicher, dass die Mehrzahl der Fotos zeitnah hochgeladen werden. Vielleicht fällt mir eine Lösung ein. lg --Peter Lauppert (talk) 07:13, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

na ja, ich verwende den Upload-Wizzard und der versorgt das Datum automatisch aus den Exif-Daten. Kein Aufwand (weniger als davor). Demnächst wird das Hochladen aus den Denkmallisten auch über den Upload-Wizzard geschehen, und dann wird das Datum auch in diesem Fall aus den Exif-Daten genommen. Bei GPS in den Exif-Daten übrigens auch diese. Vielleicht findest du ein Tool, mit dem du aus den Fotos alle Exif-Daten weglöschen kannst, bis auf das Aufnahmedatum? (etwa [1]). Und der Aufwand für das Hochladen ist nicht das einzige was zählt, der Aufwand für die Wartung sollte auch berücksichtigt werden. PS: ich habe mich erst unlängst an Bilder aus dem Jahre 2007 erinnert, bin in meine Sicherungen graben gegangen, von wegen zeitnah; ich habe letztes Wochenende 900 Fotos gemacht, gerade mal ein Viertel davon gesichtet und das was es Wert war, hochgeladen, Steindy hat noch immer Fotos aus dem Sommer 2011, die er noch nicht bearbeitet und hochgeladen hat. Weiß nicht. Du must eine sinnvolle Beschreibung selber schreiben (aber der Name des Denkmals reicht als Beschreibung ohnehin nicht wirklich) und du musst die id hineinkopieren. Dafür hast du bei den Kategorien mehr Möglichkeiten (inklusive HotCat) und du kannst viele Bilder auf einmal hochladen (50 gleichzeitig war mein Maximum). Aber vielleicht ist Commonist noch benutzerfreundlicher (ich kenne es nicht)? lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 21:34, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

auf dem betreffenden Bild in den Wikimedia Commons ist rechts vom Museum das Denkmal "150 Jahre Eisenbahn" abgebildet. Wäre es möglich, dass Sie einen Hinweis darauf in die Beschreibung einfügen (bei mir funktioniert es leider nicht)?

Hallo PLauppert, wenn du neue Kategorien anlegst, könntest du bitte checken ob von den schon existierenden Bildern welche in deine neue Kategorie zu übersiedeln sind, etwa [2], [3] oder Gemeines Markt-Brauhaus in Hallstatt (ein Bild nachträglich von mir hochgeladen). Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hallo Plauppert, du hast zwei unterschiedliche Objekte zum gleichen Denkmalobjekt fotographiert (File:GrEnzersdorf Bildstock.jpg & File:Großenzersdorf Bildstock Wienerstraße.jpg), aber vermutlich kann nur eines das richtige sein.

• Beide tragen die gleiche ObjektID, bei einem ist sie dann wohl falsch

schon korrigiert

• Stimmen die Koordinaten in beiden Bildern?

• Was macht dich so sicher, dass du diesmal das richtige Denkmal erwischt hast?

ein bild sagt mehr als tausend worte. :-)

• Hast du nähere Angaben zum Denkmal (Bildstock in beiden Fällen), Beschreibungen für beide?

was hättest du gerne?

• Die neuen Koordinaten befinden sich lt. gmaps innerhalb von Wien. Ist hier die Grenze auf gmaps falsch? Auf NÖ Atlas korrekt in NÖ.

googles gemeindegrenzen sind nur näherungsweise.....

• Die alten Koordinaten beim alten Bild befinden sich mitten auf der Schloßhofer Straße, ohne erkennbaren Bildstock.

Danke, mal prinzipiell, wenn ein Denkmal nicht mehr denkmalgeschützt ist (z.B. wegen eines Irrtums), dann sollte es auch aus der entsprechenden Kategorie entfernt werden. Danke für die Korrektur der Koordinaten, jetzt finde ich den Bildstock in der Schrägansicht. Beschreibung: die denkmalgeschützten Objekte bekommen eine Beschreibung in den Listen, ein Bildstock ohne Schutz hat diesen Platz nicht, es bleibt allein die Bildbeschreibung, vielleicht hat ja der Dehio was dazu. lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 22:05, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

tschuldigung, habe das übersehen. War zu sehr mit Nachkategorisieren von Bildern beschäftigt. Die Frage lautet mE: Was sind "Cultural heritage monuments" im Kontext der Österreichischen Denkmallisten. Und die Antwort lautet, es sind nur die vom BDA angeführten Objekte und die ehemals angeführten Objekte. Per Definition, wegen OR, und aus pragmatischen Gründen. Und btw, ich habe diese Definition nicht gemacht. Daneben gibt es bei den Bildern keine Einschränkung, es gibt public art, Monuments and memorials, Hague Convention und sicher weitere. Wünsche und Anregungen auf fehlende Objekte, die deiner Meinung den DS verdienen, können in den Fehlerlisten eingetragen werden. lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 18:04, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

War gerade in Ramingstein. Gibt es irgendwas, wie ich dir helfen kann? (Außer es zu tun?). Es sind, btw, nicht nur die noch nicht angelegten Kategorien. Sondern neben einer Denkmalobjektkategorie (und deren Kategorisierung) sind durchaus noch andere Kategorien für deine >400 Bilder denkbar. Auch in diesem Jahr beteiligt sich Deutschland wieder am internationalen Fotowettbewerb rund um Bau- und Kulturdenkmale. Bisher wurden bereits mehr als 18.000 Bilder hochgeladen – und wir würden uns sehr über weitere Bilder von Dir freuen. Noch bis zum 30. September 2016 kannst Du Deine Bilder hochladen. WikiDaheim 2018 – Danke!

Vielen Dank für Deine Teilnahme am Wettbewerb zu WikiDaheim 2018! Von Ende Juli bis Anfang Oktober wurden so insgesamt mehr als 14.000 Bilder hochgeladen und viele Orte in Österreich in der Wikipedia und anderen Projekten mit neuen Bildern versehen, was nur dank der vielen Beiträge wie Deinen möglich war. Aus rund 500 von einer Vorjury ausgewählten Bildern hat nun eine Jury die Preisträger-Fotos dieses Jahres gewählt: Commons:WikiDaheim.
