File:Zygophyseter.png edit

I saw your reconstruction of Zygophyseter and it looks really professionally done, but it seems more reminiscent of a beaked whale than a sperm whale. Try moving the dorsal fin back a little, shrinking the dorsal fin, and adding ridges along the tail like in the modern sperm whale. Good work Dunkleosteus77 (talk) 03:48, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

By the way, there’s a bit of a review process for uploading reconstructions of extinct animals just to make sure they’re accurate. We’re talking about your art here Dunkleosteus77 (talk) 13:25, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Dunkleosteus77: Thank you! Forgive any errors/missteps in the process of communicating/uploading on here, I just started and it'll take some getting used to. I primarily referenced a reconstruction in the original description by Bianucci and Landini, which (along with most reconstructions) shows similar proportions as I have depicted. Both the basal position of Zygophyseter as well as its comparatively small size suggest it would not have had a wholly similar external appearance to Physeter, the modern sperm whale. Especially with regard to the tail ridges, which are soft tissue features known only in Physeter.
