I really did ask the people on Wikiźródła many times, not to work on the damaged files. I cannot do anything more.--TeresaPelka (talk) 12:05, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

TeresaPelka, can you please clarify your reason(s) for reconsideration? Thanks, — Racconish💬 12:11, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

The files are damaged and Polish Wikisource is the only anywhere in the world to keep them in association with the ISBNs. TeresaPelka (talk) 17:56, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

What exactly do you mean by 'damaged'? — Racconish💬 17:59, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Altered. I don't want to dwell on this. Is it really necessary? Proper files are on Polish Wikisource already, verified, green. TeresaPelka (talk) 18:05, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

So it is different and not technically corrupted, right? — Racconish💬 18:17, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Do you mean I tell if there was an algorithm? Please take this into account, I have offered a good quality translation, it is already on the Wikisource -- why should I have to suffer adverse exposure? TeresaPelka (talk) 18:24, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

It is my translation, I didn't take it from anyone or anywhere. TeresaPelka (talk) 18:26, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Sorry but I see nothing in your comment to change the situation. Feel free to use {{Superseded}} to indicate what you consider to be a better version. — Racconish💬 10:24, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Can you delete a few files for me if you have the time?

Hello, there, Racconish. How are you? Can you please delete the following images for me? They are improperly uploaded since instead of working through OTRS, I just copied and pasted the e-mails (where they gave me permission to use the images) between me and the DA in the images' descriptions. I don't want to work through OTRS ever again due to a previous bad experience, so deletion is the better option.

Thanks in advance, Lefcentreright (talk) 13:13, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

Le Courrier du Soir

Would the files in these DRs be considered collective works or otherwise be public domain in France? Abzeronow (talk) 18:30, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

Abzeronow, this is a Belgian newspaper. The legal concept of collective work does not seem to exist in Belgian law, at least not in the same fashion as in French law [1] and I am not familiar with Belgian jurisprudence in this matter. Third opinions should be asked here. — Racconish💬 18:52, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

Question about the 1942 MM animated short film “Fox Pop”

Possibly (un)related discussion at the village pump

I've created the category manually last time, and I'm asking you quickly. Are there any issue of copyrighted elements at rest of the short film that it's under public domain since not being renewed? HarvettFox96 (talk) 05:01, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

The claim at Internet Archive is not sufficient, a copyright renewal search would be better. — Racconish💬 13:47, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
Well, given me with no (relevant) results there for the entry in the copyright catalogue via the different SearX instance [Google], and also the article on Looney Tunes Wiki stated that it entered into PD after the United Artists unsuccessfully renewed in 1971. You can look for the years 1969 and 1970 here (in the motion pictures sections). If you don't find it, it would be public domain. Carl Lindberg (talk) 04:18, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Gros doutes

Formule cordiale, --Msbbb (talk) 15:27, 6 May 2020 (UTC) P.S.

Question ?

- Merci et bonne soirée --Lomita (talk) 20:05, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Cordialement, — Racconish💬 20:34, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
Cordialement, — Racconish💬 07:34, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Lefcentreright, what's wrong at source with the two last ones? — Racconish💬 07:24, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Good morning, it is licensed under CC0, but to be uploaded with that license, there needs to be a specific reason. I overlooked that when I uploaded it. Lefcentreright (talk) 07:27, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
I deemed it more appropriate to vote and let another admin close. — Racconish💬 08:07, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
On the page Commons:Flickr2Commons, it reads: Public Domain Mark, but you are required to add the appropriate PD license to the file page, for example {{PD-US-expired}} or {{PD-Portugal-URAA}}. If you don't know which PD license applies, do not upload. I just looked at the Commons:Copyright rules by territory/United Nations and there is unfortunately no tag that adequately describes the licenses of the images. Thanks. Lefcentreright (talk) 15:49, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
You are right. I corrected my vote accordingly. Thanks, — Racconish💬 16:56, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

File:Manjappada Logo.jpg

Hi Racconish, I'd recently restored this from a UDR request but had forgotten to remove the old speedy template. Your deletion was good with the information you had (I'd previously speedied it for the same reason). Just wanted to let you know in case you were wondering why I restored it. Эlcobbola talk 16:12, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks elcobbola. — Racconish💬 16:23, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Please, re-upload

Hi, @Racconish: , I would like to ask you please to re-upload the two files that you, unfortunately, deleted, let me say, by mistake, while you should instead have removed the template for deletion, since all the necessary data for this was already given there.

These two files were indicated for deletion by a certain colleague @VLu: . He explained this by the fact that he could not find out the source materials for these two files in the album, which he was checking. May be it was not easy, since colleague VLu went through the album of 33 photos numbered from 01 to 33. And he successfully found everything but two - Nr. 21 and Nr. 27.

After his nomination for deletion absolutely accurate instructions were sent to him where these source materials are in the album. The same instructions were given below the “to delete” templates. Unfortunately, colleague VLu, probably because of these unfortunate times, did not come back anymore and did not check the indications and, as a result, did not remove the "to delete" templates.

Probably there is also my fault, but in any case, these two files should be please restored. Thank you for your kind participation. Wavepainter (talk) 10:16, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

  • Wavepainter, these files were deleted not because of source is being missed, but because they were derivative works of non-free photographs. It’s so sad if you didn’t understand this after repeated explanations, and even sadder if you understood, but still try to mislead the administrator. --VLu (talk) 11:28, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Wavepainter, these are from Facebook which does not have a Commons compatible license. Consent of the copyright owner through OTRS is needed. Moreover, they are derivative works and you will need consent for the photographed works. — Racconish💬 18:04, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Racconish, thank you for your kind and clear answer. Wavepainter (talk) 23:18, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Question about the 1939 MM animated short film “Robin Hood Makes Good”

I reviewed it for the record entry at registration and renewal lists on copyright catalogues yesternight.

The original copyright holder Vitaphone registered it in 1939, until later the United Artists tried to renew it for original copyright, but failed between 1966 (1, 2) and 1967 (1, 2). Therefore it entered into the public domain (PD) in 1968.

Anyway, will I upload the video (including the rest of materials and elements) into here freely?

HarvettFox96 (talk) 13:19, 22 June 2020 (UTC), edited on 12:33, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks HarvettFox96. How can I help you? — Racconish💬 13:56, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
I appreciate that so I don't need your help. The video I got what it looked like, unfortunately not a better quality, while I was trying to enhance it with a libre/free video editor Kdenlive since the previous one. HarvettFox96 (talk) 12:18, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
And so this is the final result, with few exact additional notes. HarvettFox96 (talk) 12:49, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

Hi billinghurst, the videos produced by Magic Markers are meant to be both educational and creative. See Category:Videos by Magic Markers. This particular one is more tongue in cheek but has IMO the same kind of purpose. I am not sure where is your concern. — Racconish💬 13:25, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Advice request for new page about a noted film illustrator David Russell

Hello Racconish, I would like to request your advice and assistance. I have created a new biography page about film artist David Russell, whose artwork is included in the Smithsonian Institute Star Wars collection, as well as numerous books, magazines and online articles and interviews, most recently with the Jack Kirby Museum. I created this page as a draft in my Sandbox about a year ago, and patiently waited for a review. Nothing happened. I then contacted editors on the help link in June, they advised that I should resubmit the page, which I did. Again, three months later, nothing happened except that my page is now redirected to I don't know where. Can you plase help me get this page correctly reviewed, and posted if it is in order. I tried to make the text strictly factual, cited many reliable reference sources, and in general followed Wiki regulations, so I don't expect there should be any real issues with the text. Thank you very much for any advice you can give me. You are welcome to write to me by email as well if you wish at mashamarx at gmail dot com. Njikecat

OK, I will get back to you on this. — Racconish💬 11:49, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Large amount of Category:Bobby Bumps films recently uploaded to archive.org

Hi, I have an upload request for you. Could you please upload all sixteen of these as webm files, with the audio stripped and the unoriginal title screens and ending screens removed from them?

In the first one, for example, the unoriginal title is from 00:00 to 00:08, and the unoriginal copyright at the end is from 5:50 to the end of the video. Don't worry about the copyright tag by Stathes, it's unwarranted; faithful touch-ups of silent films (the video portions of them anyway) are not eligible for copyright by the furnisher, and that's what all of these clearly are.

The reason I ask you is because I am aware you use FFMPEG, and I unfortunately cannot use that software right now due to my terrible computer situation. I would greatly appreciate it if you did this job for me, I know it's a lot of videos, but hopefully it isn't too much to ask. PseudoSkull (talk) 19:43, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
