I have greatly improved the savagely underexposed Caudron G3 picture of yours but cannot upload it in Commons. I don't really understand Commons, I have never had much luck with it. I can send it to you direct if you are interested, the only way I can see is email. If you want it get me in Wikipedia at [Ex nihil] I probably won't rteturfn here anytime soon. Hi Ruth, We're authoring a book about Alaska Airlines 80 year history... and would like to incude your photo of the Grumman Goose N68157 Alaska Island Air. The document in Wikipedia is too small for our needs. We have to have at least 300 DPI... or 600 DPI would be better. Please contact us via email at: besttravels@aol.com. We appreciate your help!! Could you perhaps upload your image of Swissair Convair 240 HB-IRW? edit

From browsing Airliners.net, I see that you've contributed a photo of HB-IRW, the aircraft which crashed off of Folkestone in 1954, taken just six days before the crash. Since this crash has a Wikipedia article, and you've contributed some of your aircraft images to Commons before, I was wondering if you could possibly upload that photo to Commons, if it's not too much trouble. (The article is currently illustrated with another of your Swissair Convair 240 photos, taken several years earlier and showing a different aircraft.) --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 18:43, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

MALS Tu-154 edit

Hi Ruth, is there any possibility of you uploading this MALS Tu-154 photo? I would like to use it on a couple of articles, not least an article on Tu-154. If you are able to do that I would be most appreciative. Cheers, russavia (talk) 03:30, 8 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi again Ruth, I just noticed this Krai Aero Tu-154 photo as well, if there is any chance for that one as well? Cheers, russavia (talk) 03:57, 8 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi Ruth, thanks for uploading those two pics for me. Much appreciated. FYI, the MALS Tu-154 is the International Association of Northern Peoples....quite unusual, never heard of this organisation before, have seen the MALS abbreviation around in regards to the Tu-154. It's a mystery who this outfit was. Any ideas on that? Cheers, russavia (talk) 10:09, 8 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi, yet again lol. I found two more Tu-154s-- Air Moldova and ALAK. Is there any chance of these two as well? Cheers, russavia (talk) 15:45, 8 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Heya, well I am currently working on a twenty-year plan...as in it is probably going to take me that long to do what I wanna do on WP lol. At the moment, I am working on en:User:Russavia/Tu-154, which will then be used to develop articles on those airlines that are missing, and expand others (especially the Russian/CIS airlines). So much to do, not enough time to do it, and so much to do lol. russavia (talk) 16:01, 8 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ruth, I found your picture of the NF-11 WM245 by chance when I was doing an image search for NF-11 after my father passed away. My father was stationed at 151 Sqn in Leuchars and spent a great deal of time in this aircraft, but this is the first time I have seen this photograph. I was wondering if you had any other pictures of NF-11 or NF-3 Venoms from 151 Sqn. I would also be interested in getting a higher resolution version of this picture, as I would like to have this picture enlarged and framed. Dear RuthAS.

Many thanks for the Nigeria Airways media published. Although now 10 years since the airline was shut down, 2013 marks its 55th anniversary and as such some form of commemorative special presentation is being planned independently.

Should your have more images of historical significance, regardless of their quality, it would be nice ifthey could feature in multimedia presentaions planned for later in the year.

A barnstar for you! edit

For your contributions on aircraft displayed at the former location of the "Museo Nacional de Aeronautica" (Argentina), of which I've only identified a couple so far.

Not only reminds me of childhood visits to that place, but I'm using those to enrich the wikiarticle dedicated to that museum. Thanks & kind regards, DPdH (talk) 12:08, 9 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Argentine aircraft edit

Hi, I noticed that you've uploaded some interesting images of argentine aircraft, civil and military, from 1972-75 mostly in Buenos Aires. I wonder if you have more pics to share, especially about the exhibits at the "Museo Nacional de Aeronautica" in Aeroparque Jorge Newbery. Thanks & regards, DPdH (talk) 15:47, 9 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your kind response in my TalkPage. I wouldn't worry about duplicate images, especially for the Museum aircraft, given that your photos are from about 40 years ago, taken in a different museum location and settings, and with the planes in a different restoration status and possibly different camouflages compared to today. Plus you may have other images of other objects displayed at that time that are not in "Commons" (I recall an AA gun and some rockets), the facilities at that time, and also aircraft without images in today's collection (e.g.: Huanquero and Ju52/3m). Also images of airliners in other liveries could be useful. Kind regards, DPdH (talk) 08:47, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi again, Ruth, wish you're doing well. I noticed two great pics of the Ju-52 and Cierva C30 at the old Argentine Air Force museum in J.Newbery, that you uploaded to Airliners.net; as these 2 are without images in Wikipedia I kindly ask if you could please upload a low-resolution version to Commons. Thanks and regards, DPdH (talk) 13:58, 13 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

The Photo of the B-50 in the UK edit

Hi, Ruth,

My name is Rob, and, admittedly, I am new to this in terms of editing or making “edit requests.”

As an intro, my Dad was a SAC bomber pilot in the 97th Bomb Wing and was a Squadron Commander for the 342nd Bomb Squadron (B-47s).

Regarding the page on the 810th Strategic Aerospace Division, I believe that the photo of the B-50 in 1953 is not part of the 97th Bomb Wing or the 810th Air Division. I believe that it is from the 43rd Bomb Wing, 15th Air Force.

As my Dad was a bomber pilot in the 97th Bomb Wing at Biggs AFB, is it possible to replace the current photo with a photo of a B-50 from the 97th Bomb Wing? I have a couple of good photos that may “qualify” (copyright) for Wikipedia and that I could share with you.

Apart from my own prejudice (Dad), I think that the 97th Bomb Wing be shown on the page as well as the other wing. After all, the 810th Air Division had two wings.

By the way, as you may expect, with my Dad being a SAC bomber pilot, he was deployed to the UK several times (Marham, Waddington, and Upper Heyford).

Thanks in advance!

Rob

--BeatlesVox (talk) 20:15, 28 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Ruth,

I just wanted to say "thanks" for writing back to me about your B-50 photo in the 810th Air Division's article.

When I get a chance, I'll write to an online "friend" of mine who sent me a good photo of a B-50 (97th Bomb Wing) at Biggs AFB. I'll see if he can tell me any copyright and other necessary info. If so, I'll plan to upload the photo. Then I plan it as a replacement to the one in the "810th Air Division" article.

Thank you for giving me your blessings in terms of replacing your photo with mine. I hope that I can do so one day. Then a plane from Dad's unit (the 97th Bomb Wing, one of two wings in the division) will be proudly displayed in the 810th's article.

Oh, when I clicked on your photo and got its details, I updated the "description"... I changed "15 Bombardment Wing" to read "15th Air Force." But, for some reason, I can't do the same further down the page where it shows the "thumbnail" version of your photo. Maybe you can? I dunno.

Well, I guess that's it for now. Thanks again for your time. Take care.

Rob

--BeatlesVox (talk) 03:06, 2 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

No one can update the phrase by that thumbnail, because that section records the wikitext included with the image when it was originally uploaded to Commons. Since it's only a record of the image file's history, it isn't supposed to show subsequent edits to the image info. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 21:28, 2 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Hi, you always upload so many nice photos from decades from which good photos are seldom available! However, I am always looking what nice photos you uploaded, as I try to keep up to categorize them. It would be nice if you don't just use the general category fo an aircraft. For example take File:McD F-4F 38+51 JG71 MILD 26.08.78 edited-2.jpg. As there are now hundreds of F-4 Phantom photos, there is a category for each version (like for the S-3, F-8, A-7 etc.), in this case the F-4F Phantom II-category. There is also a Jagegeschwader 71 category, as there is one for most USN aircraft squadrons. Although, someone makes categories for each single aircraft (see F-4F category), which I think is not useful when you take them out of the general category. Otherwise you have to open zillions of categories when you are looking for a good photo... Cheers Cobatfor (talk) 23:24, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I've already added my own response to this request, but I think you should respond as well. I suspect after the person noticed the map scan listed in the previous request (for which he has a point: being a scan of a published map, its copyright status is unclear), he looked up your other contributions and made an assumption. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 18:08, 8 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
