Source edit

Hi, according to COM:SOURCE, "you should provide at least a link to the web page (i.e., the url) on which the image or file is displayed (that is, not the web address of the file itself, but rather the web page containing the file). https://media.mehrnews.com/old/Original/2008/12/410200.jpg is not enough for File:Masjid al-Haram, Dhu al-Hijjah 1429 AH (410200).jpg. Thank you 4nn1l2 (talk) 10:41, 26 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim.png]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Notification about possible deletion edit

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Critically evaluate Flickr licenses
File:IRAQ (422818233).jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. You may have preserved the information shown on Flickr correctly when transferring the image here, but the Flickr uploader is not the copyright holder of this image. Either the image was created by someone else, or it is a derivative of someone else's work. As stated in Commons:Licensing, only the copyright holder may issue a license, so the one shown on Flickr is invalid. Always remember to critically evaluate Flickr licenses. Photostreams with professional-looking photographs, album covers, posters, and images in a wide range of styles or quality taken by many different cameras often indicate that the Flickr uploader either does not understand or does not care about copyright matters. See Commons:Questionable Flickr images for a list of known bad Flickr users.

Overwriting existing files edit

Hi, do not overwrite existing files with totally new ones, instead upload under a new file name. See the guideline Commons:Overwriting existing files. When uploading totally new screenshots like many of these, upload as a new one. Thanks —Vis M (talk) 08:09, 23 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey Vis M, I guess you mean like File:ميادة عبده.jpg. I just hate low quality pictures. When i find a better one i overwrite on the old one. Sorry if i messed up. --Ruwaym (talk) 10:13, 23 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Is there any lang code for Iraqi Arabic like that of Egyptian Arabic (arz) and Moroccan Arabic (ary)? Haoreima (talk) 05:41, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: If you mean in Wikimedia, I don't know, but globally there is acm, see w:Mesopotamian Arabic.--Ruwaym (talk) 08:08, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Nowadays, many Arabians started Wikimedia projects in their own dialects like arz, ary. As an Iraqi, do you have any plan for acm? Haoreima (talk) 08:17, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: Yea, looks like there is a big fray there about Wikipedias for each w:Varieties of Arabic, I am kinda in gray zone. I talked about it during recently WikiArabia/2021 held under the title Openness, I clearly stated: in ArWiki, we are not open-minded to Varieties of Arabic. One side heavily deny it :"They are just accents", and another side "Whatever you saying, Wikimedia Foundation supports me." It Seems that varieties of Arabic are not just differene of grammer-lexicon, you can see clearly Nationalism (and maybe HDI) for arz and ary, while linguistically there is at least 5 Varieties of Arabic are spoken in Egypt (on wich one ArzWiki based?). I suggested in ArWiki to run like KuWiki, It's one-language wikipedia with three writing system, we can do same in ArWiki, but no one cared. / While i am native speaker of Iraqi/Mesopotamian Arabic and kinda weak in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) grammer, but i don't support a Wikipedia for Iraq right now. My reason is simple, most varieties are limited use, in daily life, folklore and pop culture, you can't use it for scientific goals, and a Wikipedia is an Encyclopedia. There is also many unseen things, briefly i can say Iraqi users are fine with MSA. --Ruwaym (talk) 10:03, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah! It's best to stay united as one Arabic entity. I asked you for that as I saw this https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/acm in the incubator. It's totally inactive since 2016. Haoreima (talk) 10:09, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: There is enough massacres in Iraq, let's keep language safe! Anywayms i am glad to see a user from Manipur (never heard about it before i talked you). On India map, it looks like a cute baby resting in corner of room. --Ruwaym (talk) 11:08, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I might be the only fan of Iraqi stars like Saif Nabeel, Mohammed al Salem, Asraa al Aseel, etc. from Manipur. Well, regarding Manipuri and Manipur, the Manipuri language is one of the 22 officially recognized languages out of the 1000+ languages spoken in India, and the Manipur province (political state) is one the 28 states of the nation.

In fact, India is like a European continent and not a country, based on cultural diversity. Regarding area size, Manipur (the baby, as you have said) is bigger than Israel. :) Haoreima (talk) 12:30, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: I hope Indian subcontinent be united too again, this time not under an Imperial power./ Feel free to ask me anything about Iraqis, i am interested too. Enjoy this one.--Ruwaym (talk) 21:13, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Nice! I listen to Belbont El3areedh for Hussain! But Saif Nabeel al Haytil is my personal choice, because of some personal reasons. :)
I am fortunate to meet you because I have a lot to know about Iraqis and Iraq, which aren't available at online platforms. Well, will it be too much if I ask you about your social media accounts (if you have), where we could connect? Because sometimes, there are questions I want to ask but not good in Wikimedia (as they might be categorised as a promotion, or anything which may be normal to other places but not here). 02:48, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Ishtar edit

Salam walekum! Habibi! Will you mind if I ask you if Iraqis still believe in God Ishtar as you show the Ishtar flag in your userpage? Please don't mind ! In fact, I really love to study on ancient religions, no matter, it's atheism, monotheism or polytheism. Even in Manipur, presently most Manipuris/Meiteis are Hindu converts, but in ancient and early medieval times, they were Sanamahists, and there's a strong revivalism & cultural renaissance of the ancient culture in present time. So, this Iraqi flag draw my interest about the ancient religion! You may also see in my userpage too, though Manipur is a Hindu majority place in present time, an ancient dragon (of Sanamahism) is depicted in the emblem of the present day Government of Manipur. :) Haoreima (talk) 12:41, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Haoreima: Wa Alaykom as-Salam. Me same, I love our [Asians] history. Nongshaba looks cute, our lion reminds me violence. You may not believe it, but i know nothing about my country ancient history, just headlines. Wikipedia made me interest, and i started from modern history of Iraq. Anywise It's Cradle of civilization.
After two civil war and long-time terrorism, we have Mandaeans here. I can say they are only ancient people who are still living in present-day Iraq, then Iraqi Jews, victims of Farhud. I think Comparative history not suitable for Iraq, because Islam changed a lot, and during Early Muslim conquests, there was only Lakhmids. So, As Phebe Marr said in The Modern History of Iraq, we can talk about a country named Iraq in 20th century, but not a Nation named Iraqis. About this flag, backs to first Iraqi republic led by Abd al-Karim Qasim. He was not our Gandhi, but yeah, still popular. I love his period culturally, no politically. I'm glad you got interested. Btw, Nationalism is out of scope in Iraq because our regimes not belived in any nation and democracy, and Nationalism for such a suppressed people looks like a luxury thing. but currently it is part of pop culture, both youth and old people!--Ruwaym (talk) 06:13, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well, you explained me very nicely. Sometimes, I am reluctant to ask such questions about pre-Islamic Arabian religion to a Muslim Arab. But I am glad that you replied me kindly. Well, I don't think pre-Islamic polytheism is not just one religion, as I saw many like Nabataean religion, Canaanite religion, Mesopotamian religion, and so on.. I really feel sorry for the destruction of Lion of al-lāt too. Even our Nongshaba dual statues were destroyed two times, first by Burmese and second by the British. But this is the 2nd time they were repaired. Haoreima (talk) 06:32, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: Right, there is/was a huge prejustice for pre-Islamic Arabian history. But i don't feel sorry for one-side written history when there was no museum, maybe Lat or Hubal were just like our time Firdos Square statue. Seems early muslims had no idea what to do with pre-islamic things, they destroyed many cult images, like in Hejaz and Nejd, but kept another ones in Yemen, Mesapotamia and the Leavant. Sometimes, a "story" of past can be more pleasant rather than "history" itself.--Ruwaym (talk) 12:37, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well, thanks for all those information! And, another thing I want to know something from you. Can you see the letters in Meitei script in Meitei wikipedia Or elsewhere in Commons? I ask this because some says they could from mobile but they couldn't from desktop, while some say they could from both mobile as well as desktop. Haoreima (talk) 12:44, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: Indeed, on Google Chrome desktop version 94.0.4606.81, no. I thought its like MyWiki (after some moments can be seen), but not. --Ruwaym (talk) 13:07, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Another admirer of Iraqi history here. Proof: I've written a lot about Iraqi ancient history, early Islamic individuals (Ali, Hasan ibn Ali, Husein ibn Ali), modern Iraqi events like Farhud you mentioned (highly manipulated by anti-Iraqi propagandists!), and so on. Articles are for 25 million speakers from my region, and I hope that I increased their interest for your country. Unfortunately I've never been to Iraq, although my grandfather built military bases there in pre-Saddam time. But when I come to visit, I want you Ruwaym to be my guide. Deal? :) --Orijentolog (talk) 01:02, 4 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Orijentolog: Ahlan wa Sahlan. I never seen a polish person too, while they were involved in our "Liberation" from Ba'athists. It would be pleasure for me to be host for a polish person, with poor English but generous Tayy hands. "Email this user" can be first step. --Ruwaym (talk) 13:52, 4 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! :) Just you confused one thing, I'm not Polish and never see Poland, I'm from Croatia (ex Yugoslavia). --Orijentolog (talk) 19:37, 4 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I did not write about Tayy yet, but I wrote about Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Hajsam ibn Adi al-Taji who is one of the famous early Tayys and an author of the earliest historical book about Tayys ("Nasab Tayyi"). Arabic Wikipedia has 20 times less material comparing to my article, and English one doesn't even exist. It means when I come to Iraq I should teach people about Tayy history! :) --Orijentolog (talk) 01:54, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Orijentolog: Oh Crotia! my mistake/ That is great, I'm modernist but I like to know more about my ancestors, both maternal and paternal. Bring me some coins of your country when you come to Iraq, for my collection. I can say under Al-Kadhimi government there is some changes, It's safer!--Ruwaym (talk) 14:37, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Ciell, MGA73, and 4nn1l2: , please block me here too and delete all my uploads. I am not European, I have no academic degree, I am hot-headed, and i have no access. Block me for nothing, just look negativetly and find an excuse. Ruwaym (talk) 16:52, 17 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I will do sel-injury, or suicide soon. As an active user who faced worst things in FaWiki, FaWq, and ArWq and recently Meta, I have no choice. I hope i have at least the right to attack myself. --Ruwaym (talk) 16:56, 17 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, my dear friend, just wanted to say you are awesome and brilliant. Let some time passes, and you will feel better. Even better not to log into Wikimedia projects for some time. I myself have emptied my watchlist on fawiki and have disabled pings from there. That project has a toxic atmosphere. Don't let that get under your skin. This is not your fault. 4nn1l2 (talk) 17:04, 17 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@4nn1l2 Words don't makes me calm, even true sayings from friends. It's time to change, for all, not only me. It's not about FaWikipedia, It's about me. I really feel i hazed myself, wasted my time, energy and abilities. I could write a book, learn new things... but I wrote more than 1000 articles in ArWk & ArWq, no one thanked me. I moved to FaWk to be in new place, but i got blocked there in a funny way, then moved to FaWq, after three months i got blocked there for an excuse. last week i got blocked in a clearly missue of acess in ArWq, and now a new admin of Meta blocked me infinite. I just recieve blocks, and the access-holders expect me to remain "calm". I saw no "positive" things, no one helps you, no one cheers you, no one looks to you positive. There is no logical reasoning, no "justice", no mutual civility, no any thing in some small wikis, and Meta always refers to the "Community consensus".
This list could be longer, and include many different names. But what is metawiki reaction? blocking infinite. It's not about China or Russia at all, so no one cares. I will not stop until FaWikipedians changes, ArWk is my homewiki, but I am an Iranian anyways. Ruwaym (talk) 17:31, 17 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I can't help you with the Middle Eastern projects, but regarding Meta, I think there are still some logical people over there. I will look into this tomorrow. 4nn1l2 (talk) 17:54, 17 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@4nn1l2 Tell them if you want Ruwaym to stop gargling about his local issues, He will stop. But zeitoons.com is ready for his articles. He is free to share his story with the Media. Ruwaym (talk) 18:00, 17 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough! I believe that getting your story published on the media is one of your basic rights, and I even encourage you to do that as soon as possible, and this should not affect your status on Meta.
The truth is most of us know how the Middle Eastern projects suck, but we cannot do much.
If you want to contribute to this project, you are always welcome and I believe you won't experience what you have been through on fawiki here again. I may even guarantee that.
But this is all I can do for you. I don't want to hear about the Middle Eastern projects here, and if you keep pinging me about the Middle Eastern projects, I may change my attitude and even change my mind. Thanks! 4nn1l2 (talk) 18:44, 17 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

File:Hussein baghdad (cropped).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
