A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Camp_Salmen_House_(Lodge)_9-30-2009.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (:File:Camp_Salmen_House_(Lodge)_9-30-2009.jpg).

If you created the content yourself, enter Own as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, GFDL or Cc-zero to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

You requested a Flick review but did not add a link to the image on Flickr. Same with File:Camp Salmen Live Oak.jpg. MGA73 (talk) 10:32, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Help. I am very confused. I have spent at least four hours reviewing the licensing information and feel as if I am racing in a circle. These photos are not copyrighted. I release them on a regular basis as requested. Parish Attorney agrees they are in the public domain but said St. Tammany Parish Government should be credited. I thought I did it the correct way but obviously not. If I could find where the corrected code is, I would be happy to insert it but I seem to find myself going from help area to help area and ending up where I started. Any assistance is appreciated. --SCPS70458 (talk) 18:18, 19 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Did you get the image off of www.flickr.com? — raeky (talk | edits) 16:36, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes the best way would be if you could tell us where you got the files from. If it is from Flickr please copy and paste the full url. --MGA73 (talk) 17:12, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

The images came from the camera in my department, downloaded to the St. Tammany Parish Government server, saved to my photo file. While I did not take the pictures, staff from my department took them on department time. I have the authority to release photos and information to the public from our government office. I should have put them down as original work as they are the work of my department and will do so in the future if that is correct. Meanwhile, I couldn't find the correct coding to change the attributions and release. Our servers are not open to the public, so that link would not work. I can have them posted to [www.stpgov.org] if that would make anything easier. Thank you. --SCPS70458 (talk) 17:45, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

If thats the case why did you request a flickr review with the template? We assume you got the photos from www.flickr.com when you use that template. If they're pictures you've taken and or have the explicit copyright then you can upload then and choose the approbate license. If your a federal government office than PD-USGov would be used, if you don't apply under that license than one of the creative commons licenses, probably . Feel free to reupload/change your licenses to these if you own the copyright for them. Getting OTRS permissions wouldn't be a bad idea either. How many images do you plan on uploading from your offices? — raeky (talk | edits) 17:58, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

From this point forward, I am going to personally take all photos to make life simpler. Some of this is work related but I want to do volunteer work on the National Register properties. I have no clue where, why or how I requested a Flickr review. I thought I had used Creative Commons 3.0. Please forgive, as I am still trying to learn. I will re-upload these images this afternoon. Thank you. --SCPS70458 (talk) 18:35, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

If the file is not coming from the flickr website don't use the Flickrreview template in your upload. — raeky (talk | edits) 18:45, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello, SCPS70458!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
