Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Image problem edit

I am not sure I understand you correctly. You want to replace a photograph here because there is something wrong with the posture the girl displays? Change the information and tell the world what is displayed. --Hedwig in Washington ^(mail?) 23:16, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes. The posture is incorrect. To be specific, the dance posture depicts Lord Vishnu and the left hand's position is incorrect. The major issue we are facing is that the same image is used for printing banners and in other media by others as it appears as the 3rd image in google image search for "sattriya" (the dance's name). Two questions: Is the photograph we now have on Commons depicting any other (valid) posture? How is the copyright owner of the new photograph, when was it taken? --Hedwig in Washington ^(mail?) 22:33, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

1. The photograph present now does not depict any valid posture. As you can see there are differences in the left hand of the dancer in both the images. 2. The new photograph was taken in a studio at Guwahati, Assam, India in November 2013. I would like to set the copyright as mentioned here- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en . It is an original work and I am the owner of it. Hey Roland zh, I'm sorry but I would like to know why this image has a deletion request and a copyright violation notice. I have mentioned the "Owner of sattriyakristi.com" as the author of the image - which is correct. www.sattriyakristi.com is the portfolio site of the girl in the picture. The photograph was taken in a studio at Guwahati, Assam, India and is owned by the owners of www.sattriyakristi.com. The contact details are present here: https://www.sattriyakristi.com/contact-me/ . The licensing terms of the image and it's usage is mentioned clearly below the image and is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license. Hi,

I wonder where did you get these images, which were deleted recently. I can't find the source, and all copies on the web are obviously from Commons. Could you ask the copyright holder to send a permission for a free license via COM:OTRS? These are nice images, but we can't keep them without a free license.
