Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open! edit

Dear Shiro D. Neko,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.

I am sorry to have caused Commons so much trouble. _{Commons:Categories_for_discussion/2020/04/Category:SVG_Hanafuda_(image_set)、Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Hanafuda_1-1.svg}

Six years ago, I wasn't familar with the copyright policy, and thus I have uploaded 60 coviright-violated images. At that time, I took a copyrighted hanafuda and traced it for my own convenience, because someone at the Village Pump in Chinese Wikipedia said that such action might not violate the copyright regulations. I have to apologize for this.

During 2016-2020, I have learnt a lot about the policies and guidelines. However, I totally forgot those 60 copyvio images I have uploaded, so I did not request for deletion earlier. I am also really sorry for this.

I promise that if I encounter similar situation in the future, I will definitely check the copyright of the elements throughly, and will not upload them if I am unsure of it.

Фото Харкова edit

Дякую за перенесення файлів та деяку категоризацію, але помітив з деякими фотографію трапилась невелика халепа щодо категорій: так, з Ікринською вулицею - Ви наплутали (там автор наплутав і з назвою, і з описом) - лише 1 фотографія - то справді Іскринська вулиця, а 4 - то Іскринський провулок. Це можна перевірити через гугл-мапс-в'ю (я сам звірився, бо з координатами там також халепа). Так само з Білостоцьким провулком - він на Салтівці, а Білгородський узвіз - в центрі, в Нагірному районі. Якщо щось по категоріям вулиць чи об'єктів у Харкові - то буду радий, якщо буде звалено на мене. Мені можна таке що для розгрести кидати на СО, чи у месенджери. --Kharkivian (talk) 20:20, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Kharkivian Так справді... вибачаюся... У назві було Ln - Lane, а в описі вулиця... Чи не варто перейменувати файл Iskryns'kyi Ln in Kharkiv (2) на точнішу назву? Якщо у Вас підключений Імпорт файлів, то за бажанням можете uk:Категорія:Зображення:Вулиці Харкова перенести і постворювати для них категорії. Нині наприклад для Салтівського шосе вже можна. Вікі любить пам'ятки 2021 в Україні / Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Ukraine edit

Привіт!

З 1 по 30 вересня вже традиційно пройде українська частина міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки»! В Україні цей конкурс пройде вже вдесяте. На конкурс можна подавати власні фото пам'яток історико-культурної спадщини України — і змагатися за призи. Більше можна прочитати за посиланням.

Радимо ознайомитися із детальними правилами, а також із відповідями на часті питання. Як і того року — у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток» можна отримати 21 бал за фотографії об'єктів, якщо світлин цієї пам'ятки раніше не було завантажено.

Нагадаємо, що всі фотографії автоматично беруть участь у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток»; однак для того, щоб фото позмагалося у номінації «Найкраще фото», потрібно підтвердити це при завантаженні.

Цього року вперше будуть окремо виділені фото з повітря (дронами, квадрокоптерами тощо) — у спеціальній номінації «Аерофото». Для того, щоб робота потрапила на спецномінацію потрібно вибрати її у Завантажувачі.

Також вперше проводиться спеціальна номінація «Пам'ятки Подесення», знову пройдуть спецномінації «Відео», «Єврейська спадщина», «Млини», «Пам'ятки національно-визвольної боротьби» та «Via Regia Ukraine». Для участі світлин у цих спецномінаціях не потрібно обирати нічого у Завантажувачі — світлини зараховуватимуться автоматично з відповідних списків.

Важливо! Цього року відбулася адміністративно-територіальна реформа. Однак, ми проводимо конкурс ще за попереднім адміністративно-територіальним устроєм. Ми почали роботу над створенням списків з новим поділом, але вона ще не є завершена. Ви можете користуватися тими новими списками, що вже є, якщо потрібно відшукати пам'ятку за новим поділом (деякі ОДА вже почали присилати у такому форматі), але пам'ятайте, що нові списки ще не є повними.

Привіт!

Нагадуємо, що до 30 вересня включно можна вантажити світлини та відео культурної спадщини України до національного етапу міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки»!

Зараз Україна посідає 3-є місце за кількістю завантажених світлин, поступаючись Російській Федерації та Німеччині. За першу половину місяця було завантажено світлини пам'яток із усіх регіонів України, але частина із них є дуже погано представлена. Севастополь зараз представлений тільки однією пам'яткою і одним фото, Крим — 12 пам'яток і 51 фото. Детальніше — у таблиці:

Цього року у конкурсі є вісім спеціальних номінацій:

Kraken regiment insignia edit

Hello, I saw that you are the creator of this file of the emblem of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps. I recently created a Wikipedia article for the Kraken Regiment, which you can find here. They also have an emblem that you can see here, with a closer look here. Would it be possible for you to recreate the insigna as a file for use on the article? An editor on the English Wikipedia mentioned he might do it in the near future, but I am not sure if he will get to it and it would be great to have it on the article as soon as possible. Привіт!

Цього року українська частина міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки» пройде з 1 по 31 жовтня — через російське вторгнення в Україну також довелося змінити умови: тільки світлини зроблені до 23 лютого 2022 року включно будуть прийматися в основній частині конкурсу.

В Україні цей конкурс пройде вже водинадцяте. На конкурс можна подавати власні фото пам'яток історико-культурної спадщини України — і змагатися за призи. Більше можна прочитати за посиланням.

Радимо ознайомитися із детальними правилами, а також із відповідями на часті питання. Як і того року — у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток» можна отримати 21 бал за фотографії об'єктів, якщо світлин цієї пам'ятки раніше не було завантажено.

Нагадаємо, що всі фотографії автоматично беруть участь у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток»; однак для того, щоб фото позмагалося у номінації «Найкраще фото», потрібно підтвердити це при завантаженні.

Цього року знову пройде спецномінація «Відео» — для участі робіт у цій спецномінації не потрібно обирати нічого у Завантажувачі — роботи зараховуватимуться автоматично з відповідних списків.

Hi Alex, I appreciate when someone knows about the difference between physical and topographic maps! So maybe you can help and continue in Category:Topographic maps of Ukraine and move the other non topo-maps into Category:Physical maps of Ukraine. Доброго дня! Зараз саме час показати світу українську культуру та більше розказати про Україну, тому запрошуємо до 31 березня включно долучитись до міжнародної кампанії «Вікі любить фольклор» (Wiki Loves Folklore).

Це щорічний міжнародний фотоконкурс, присвячений народній культурі різних регіонів у таких категоріях, як, зокрема, народні фестивалі, народні танці, народна музика, народні ігри, народна кухня, народний одяг, фольклор та традиції, народні казки, легенди, традиційні пісні та танці, народні п’єси, ігри, сезонні події, народне мистецтво, народна релігія, міфологія тощо.

Конкурс проходить з 1 лютого по 31 березня. Окрім загальних міжнародних призів, цього року ГО «Вікімедіа Україна» додатково нагородить призами та відзнаками авторів та авторок найкращих фото з України, завантажених будь-коли протягом конкурсу 2023 року. Щоб фото отримало шанс поборотися за додаткові відзнаки, при завантаженні потрібно вказати у полі «країна» Україну.

Зверніть увагу: стандартно ми розглядатимемо лише фото, зроблені на території України. Якщо ви хочете подати на розгляд світлини української культури, зроблені на території інших країн, завантажте їх і надішліть нам посилання на поштову адресу edu wikimedia.org.ua. Якщо фото зроблене на території України, воно потрапить на оцінювання автоматично, надсилати на пошту не потрібно.

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Я пишу статтю на цю Важливу тему. Є певна кількість російських спортивних клубів, що підтримує публічно збройну агресію Росії проти України. Тобто, демонструє знаки Z, георгієвські стрічки, гасла Своих не бросаем. Сайти клубів у більшості випадків дозволяють використовувати матеріали при посиланні без зазначення ліцензії. Доброго дня!

Ви брали участь у конкурсі «Вікі любить Землю» в Україні раніше, тож приносимо вам важливу новину — Вікі любить Землю повернувся! Цього року конкурс відбувається протягом липня.

Як і в попередні роки, долучитися до змагання можуть усі охочі — як професійні фотографи, так і аматори. Головне, щоб ви любили Землю і розділяли ідею конкурсу — представити природно-заповідні території України за допомогою світлин під вільними ліцензіями. У Вікіпедії та Вікісховищі конкурсні фото будуть доступні тисячам людей.

Загальний формат конкурсу такий же, як у минулі роки. Стежте за новинами проєкту у Facebook, Instagram або в блозі. Також ключова інформація буде з'являтися на сторінці у Вікісховищі.

Важливо! З міркувань національної безпеки та безпеки учасників і учасниць до участі у конкурсі допускаються тільки фото та відео, зроблені до 23 лютого 2022 року включно!

Рекомендуємо уважно ознайомитись з правилами конкурсу та звернути увагу на вимоги щодо якості фотографій. Цьогоріч мінімальна роздільна здатність фотографій, які приймаються на конкурс, становить 2 Мп.

Вітаю! Я повернув первинне зображення оскільки згідно COM:OW будь-які відреставровані цифровим способом історичні документи та твори мистецтва мають завантажуватися окремо. Якщо Ви хочете використати версію файлу зі зміненими кольорами, завантажте, будь ласка окремим файлом це зображення і вкажіть себе як автора колоризації. Так, я про зміну яскравості. Неправильно висловився. Малі зміни не стосуються історичних документів і творів мистецтва, див. нижче:

Commons:Overwriting existing files#Exceptions: If digital restoration work is being done on a historical document or artwork, the restoration (no matter how minor) should always be uploaded under a new filename from the original file, providing a link back to the source on which it was based in the new file's "other versions" field.
