Logos edit

Hi SyntaxTerror. I saw that both the logo of the African Month and the American Month, are your work. From Wikimedia Spain we are thinking of organizing an Oceanian Month; would it be possible to create a similar logo for it?. Best, --Rodelar (talk) 08:52, 28 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hola @Rodelar:
First, you must define "Oceania" (which countries? the ones on the map in thumb or more/less?).
It would be much easier for me if you gave me hints about what you want on the logo: which buildings, animals, food, plants, vehicules, etc. (It would be best if most regions/cultures are represented) Keep in mind that I'll have to find SVG pictures for that, that are free to use, all of the same style, and simple enough to be greatly reduced.
My first ideas:
  • kangaroo/kiwi/bird of paradise (for australia/new zealand/papua new guinea)
  • stars of the southern cross (present on many Oceanian flags)
  • Sydney's opera house & papuan hut (I can draw this myself)
  • a coconut tree (there are not really renowned oceanian fruits or vegetables (but maybe the breadfruit?), nor cuisine.
Tell me also if you want medals (like these) and a banner (like this). I'll need the exact text in Spanish (and the month/year) because my Spanish is not so good.

I had some time so I made the logo. Let me know if it suits you.
I also created the item on Wikidata: Wikidata:Q98720419.

Hi SyntaxTerror. Sorry for answering so late. I would include in Oceania both Australia and New Zealand, as well as Micronesia, Melanesia (Papua included) and Polynesia. About what to include in the logo, I'm ok with your ideas (kangaroo, southern cross, sydney opera, huts, breadfruit...; maybe some moai could be included) and I think it's great the version you propose, thank you very much for doing it. We still don't know the month in which it will be held, I will let you know in the next few days. --Rodelar (talk) 07:56, 7 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Rodelar: I added a moai and a canoe. If you don't see the new version, press Ctrl+F5 to clear your page cache. Şÿℵדαχ₮ɘɼɾ๏ʁ 18:09, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi SyntaxTerror. Thank you very much, it looks great! --Rodelar (talk) 10:00, 10 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hola @Rodelar: ,
--Rodelar (talk) 10:00, 10 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hola @Rodelar: , ¡me parece perfecto!

@SyntaxTerror: @Daehan: sorry for answering so late, I didn´t get the notification. Then, how about December, is it ok for you?. Thanks for the banner!. --Rodelar (talk) 16:47, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Rodelar: December has no editathon on wp.fr, it would be better in my opinion (and American and Asian months are in October and November). But I'm not organising it, so it's not my decision anyway. Regards, Şÿℵדαχ₮ɘɼɾ๏ʁ 16:53, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
@Daehan: do we agree then to celebrate it in December 2021? :). --Rodelar (talk) 18:19, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@SyntaxTerror: . Le mois Océanien se déroulera sur la Wikipédia en français en décembre 2021. Pourriez-vous faire un bandeau avec cette date ? --Girart de Roussillon (talk) 09:18, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Merci. --Girart de Roussillon (talk) 15:54, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@SyntaxTerror: could you change the word Enero in the banner to Diciembre? It is the correct month in which the activity will be held. Thank you in advance. --Rodelar (talk) 10:46, 23 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Rodelar: done.
If you don't see the new version of the file, press Ctrl+F5 to clear the cache of the page and reload it. Regards, Şÿℵדαχ₮ɘɼɾ๏ʁ 12:10, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

South Sudan border edit

Hello.

Can you add the border of South Sudan in:

Yours sincerely, 31.200.20.40 22:01, 14 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

If the data is from before 2011, there is no reason to add this border which did not exist at that time.
As the source of the data is missing on each of these maps, it is better to leave them as they are.
Regards, Şÿℵדαχ₮ɘɼɾ๏ʁ 22:49, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
I undestand. Thank you for the reply. 31.200.20.40 05:07, 15 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hi!, I just uploaded the African Month banner for this year's edition but the number 2023 is out of place and I'm going crazy trying to find where the error is in the svg. Can you take a look at it?. Thank you in advance. Rodelar (talk) 12:04, 24 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hola Rodelar. I fixed it.
The problem is quite simple : the rendering engine of Wikipedia does not know the font used for "Mayo 2023", so it uses another and the dimensions change. To avoid this, you just have to select the text and change it into a path (Path > Object to path / Maj+Ctrl+C), so it is no more a text, but polygons.
Note that it shouldn't be done if the SVG file may be translated into another language, because then it'll not be possible to access the text and modify it.
I don't know what fonts are OK to be used with Commons/Wikipedia, but I am sure that if you use DejaVu sans or serif, the text will be rendered as you can see it on Inkscape.
Good luck, Şÿℵדαχ₮ɘɼɾ๏ʁ 12:27, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrol given edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 18:07, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Abzeronow. Merci.
