My fault! Is here anythig what will change the category automatically? Koobak 15:06, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry :-)) Well, I don't think that it is possible to change a category automatically. But better ask one of the administrators for further informations, please.

Redundant category edit

Hello TomCatX! Ive noticed youve been removing "redundant categories" from many dino images. Do you think they're really redundant? In my opinion, having all dino pictures of one particular group in one category (like theropoda, ankylosauria etc) would make it much more easier to check for newly added images than chechking every dino article. I would like to know your opinion on this. Best wishes --Dudo 20:47, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's a point Dudo. But in my opinion it would get more and more difficult to find out whether there are new pictures or not if you must find them in dozens and later on hundreds of other pictures. That's the reason to create articles. CU --TomCatX 22:20, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
And what about putting new dino images for a couple of weeks under category:Dinosauria either so every one can notice? Then there would be new dinos (except pics without a more concrete category) gathered in one place and it would be quite easy to get rid of the redundant category when the image is no longer considered new. --Dudo 11:23, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I mean this is a good idea. I think one month ought to be enough time to get the newest pics. --TomCatX 13:11, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, i'm not going to change the categories again. I spent too much time changing them so far to change them again to suit your idea. My idea was like: if somebody looks for a skeleton he looks for it in an appropriate category. If somebody looks for a nice theropoda he looks for it in a category theropoda. If somebody looks for a tyranosaurus he looks for it in a category dinosaurs by genara. If you really want to change the categories you can do it on your own beacause I'm definitely not going to do this. If you don't persist with your idea let me know - I'll finish it according to my earlier plan. Koobak 19:36, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I mean the problem is fixed now, it's okay. --TomCatX 21:12, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
So OK. But now there is an another problem. We have got one category and two ideas of makeing subcategories. I don't think it is a good way of doing recategorization. Koobak 22:00, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
My first intention was to put the "mess" in order: Too many pictures so it was hard to find a certain one and so I create some articles containig images (at least two) and so you could remove the category for this pic. Now I've seen that there are a lot of new categories with subcategories and images and articles containing the same images as in the subcategories... ;-)) But okay, now it is in fact much easier to find a picture so I reached my goal and for me the work is done so far, I'm sorry. My best wishes --TomCatX 21:52, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I would be glad if you could voice your opinion in this voting. Regards --Dudo 13:37, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tom, the photos were shot in Namibia. Information was added. They are quite common in the area of the Ugab (where i do field work) but are very difficult to photograph, because they get scared very easily. This stupid bird thought that was very well camouflaged against the pebbles, so it stayed really quiet for a few minutes, thinking that i was not seeing it. But alas, I was... Bird was lucky because the only shooting i can do is with a camera... The locals eat them sometimes and say they taste like chicken (i'm not surprised). Thats about all I know about them! Thanks for your photo! edit

Hello!

My name is Laurie and I'm the Project Manager for na2ure, an NYC-based startup toy company. We featured this photo of yours (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Metamorphosis_frog_Meyers.png) in our upcoming app, and wanted to thank you. Thank you!

na2ure is all about designing science play. We developed a game-changing platform called ferret that classifies ecological data into an intuitive network that can be easily learned through play. The high end value of our work attracted STEM>STEAM icon John Maeda, as well as the VCs behind LittleBits, Sphero, Makerbot, and Shapeways. The science has been vetted by MD's and PhD's, tested by kids, and praised by educators as appealing to all ages.

None of this would have been possible without your work. Thank you.

The app is available on the iOS platform and will be released to the public soon. Be sure to follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Anigramit) and Twitter (@anigramit) for a quick, easy way to share the news with your social media network -- and to keep up to date on all the great stuff we’re doing.

Again, thank you! Laurie Vazquez Project Manager, na2ure manager@na2ure.com

Archimolluscs edit

Hi! I see you created a German version of my drawing of an archimollusc (File:archimollusc-en.svg). I am glad that you noted that your version derives from that file— I only wish you had also made a note on the original image that you had created a German one! Instead, I just wasted a few hours of my time trying to come up with one myself (and I am not a German speaker) and have now gone ahead and nominated it for deletion as a redundant image. Shoot. Oh well. KDS4444 (talk) 11:59, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi KDS4444. I am really sorry to hear that! You're right I shoud had made a note in the original file in order to avoid unnecessary inconvenience. Again, sorry for that! An explanation, however not an excuse, is the complexity of the entire upload process especially the licensing in an so-called derivative work and so I simply forgot to write an appropriate note in your original file. Well, keep on your good work and many greetings from Cologne, Germany. --TomCatX (talk) 22:04, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Bilder von Fossis der Fränkischen Alb edit

Moin,

--TomCatX (talk) 21:41, 20 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
OK, danke. Jo, ist oft mit etwas aufwändigerer Recherche verbunden, aber macht i’wie auch Spaß, zumindest dann, wenn sich was findet. Cheers! --Gretarsson (talk) 21:49, 20 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
