Some documentation will probably be requested edit

In the image metadata of File:Michelle Pfeiffer at the New Year's Eve premiere 2011.jpg it says "©Moovieboy Pictures 2011" but it doesn't say anything about the image being released under a CC-BY-SA or GFDL license, so it would be best for you to send an e-mail through the "OTRS" system to verify that you have the legal ability to release the rights to this picture. This may be asked of you... AnonMoos (talk) 04:14, 2 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

No need to send e-mail through the system "OTRS". I was the person who taken this image. and Moovieboy just alias my name is Tom Sorensen, thank you. --Tom Sorensen (talk) 04:57, 2 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Atticus Shaffer at the Frankenweenie Premiere 2012.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Atticus Shaffer at the Frankenweenie Premiere 2012.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Hello. This is a reminder for you that it is important to address the identified issues instead of simply removing legitimate warnings and notices from your talk page. Removing messages does not remove them from the talk page's history. You are encouraged instead to archive past discussions according to our community guidelines. You can have this done automatically for you -- simply place {{subst:User:Jeff G./usertalksetup}} or {{subst:autoarchive resolved section/usertalksetup}} at the top of your user talk page and then old messages will be archived after 1 month (see User:MiszaBot/usertalksetup for more details). If you have received warnings for copyright issues, please familiarize yourself with our policy on licensing. You can also ask for help at the village pump or the help desk if you need assistance.

Flickr galleries edit

Hi, Tom. Thanks very much for your generosity to the project. There's a slight problem having to do with the discrepancy between the way you've licensed your images on Flickr and the way you've licensed them on Commons. Because you've identified your uploads as your own work it's not a huge deal, but it may cause you a headache (or several), so I hope you'll let me make a suggestion that might make it easier for you to keep on contributing headache-free.

This image of Olivia Holt, for example, is licensed CC-BY-SA 3.0 on Wikimedia Commons but is accompanied on its Flickr page by a copyright notice reading "© All Rights Reserved". Why is this a problem? Well, Commons users are encouraged to make sure the site is kept free of copyright violations, so when we see professional work it's natural to go check the source page to make sure someone hasn't just pulled it down off a website and uploaded it to the Commons, falsely claiming to be the image's creator or copyright-holder (this happens all day, every day, believe me). When we find that the source page reads "© All Rights Reserved", one of two things is likely to happen: it'll get tagged either as a copyright violation and be gone in a few hours, or {{No permission}}, and be gone after seven days unless the uploader can provide evidence that they hold the file's copyright and have agreed to publish the image under a free license.

Proving you're the copyright-holder is done by a process called an open ticket request system, abbreviated OTRS. You can read about it here, but the gist of it is that you send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org with information sufficient to establish that you're genuinely the copyright-holder and have the right to license the image. It's simple enough, but the problem is that the discrepancy between the Flickr license and the Commons license mean that you'll have to contact OTRS every time somebody comes across one of your images and tags it {{No permission}}. This is the headache.

Unless that's not a headache for you, in which case carry right on. An alternative, though, would be to change the licenses on the Flickr images themselves -- that is, the ones you want to upload to the Commons -- so that the two licenses accord. Here are the steps:

  1. Under "Owner settings", change to image's license on its Flickr page to "Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons"
  2. When you upload the file to the Commons, license it CC-BY-SA 2.0 (this is the version of the Creative Commons license Flickr uses)
  3. Include the Flickr page URL in the "source" field of the information template
  4. Under "Licensing" add the tag {{Flickrreview}}.

A bot will then come along and, after comparing the upload license with the Flickr license, mark the image as having passed the review -- and then nobody will bother you with OTRS requests.

If you find any of this confusing or unclear, drop me a line on my talk page and I can walk you through it. Rrburke (talk) 18:09, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Rrburke. I'm Tom Sorensen, the owner and publisher of these images and Moovieboy is the alias of my name. Why did not believe me ?? I do not know how use OTRS. I know only upload my images in here. It seems to me, I will leave the Wikimedia soon. thanks you. --Tom Sorensen (talk) 21:27, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
And This image [1] has been Reviewed from this user User talk:Senator2029. See in the history and contributions of the picture [2]. And I was who taken this image. thanks. --Tom Sorensen (talk) 21:41, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Tom. I apologize that the process for verifying contributors' identity is so cumbersome, but it's done to protect the work of creative professionals like you from being used without your permission: once a person's work is on the web, anybody can download a copy and then claim to be its creator; we use OTRS to prevent that from happening. It's not the case that I don't believe you: I do. It's just that the Commons also requires verification in the form of an OTRS ticket.
OTRS requires nothing more than an email sent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org from the address associated with your Flickr account and saying something like this:
I confirm that I am Tom Sorenson, the owner of the Flickr account http://www.flickr.com/people/moovieboy/ . I am the creator and copyright-holder of the photograph of Atticus Schaffer located at http://www.flickr.com/photos/moovieboy/8022748818/ , an image I uploaded to Wikimedia Commons as http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Atticus_Shaffer_at_the_Frankenweenie_Premiere_2012.jpg . I consent to publish this photograph under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License 3.0, aka CC-BY-SA 3.0.
That's all that's required: an OTRS volunteer will do the rest.
As for the image File:Atticus_Shaffer_at_the_Frankenweenie_Premiere_2012.jpg, unfortunately User:Senator2029 can't clear files tagged {{No permission}}; nor can I: the only process we have for clearing such files is OTRS. For that reason, I will need to restore the {{No permission}} until the OTRS process is complete. An OTRS will remove that tag at that time.
Thanks for your patience: please let me know if there's any way I can assist you. Rrburke (talk) 21:31, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hello Rrburke, Unfortunately's been deleted. This user has stunning images and must keep these images. I've noticed this image see. Here's link in the Flickr site, and the same work images reads "© All Rights Reserved". But put license "self|cc-by-sa-3.0|GFDL" Were kept for almost 3 years. And for Tom Sorenson I think i put such a license "self|cc-by-sa-3.0|GFDL" Or "OTRS pending" for Photo Tom Sorenson. What is work? Regards. --MyCanon (talk) 10:34, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
