Hi,

I created the fly (exercise) page on english wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fly_%28exercise%29) and would like to get some pictures, but I am super confused by searching. I need pictures of a shoulder fly, chest fly, and inverted fly. Thanks! Yes, we have categories, see Commons:Categories. To find a category, you can use the tool CommonSense. Type in e.g. strength training and it will show you approriate categories and galleries on commons. --GeorgHH 15:45, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Could you clarify the licsenceing statement on this image? it doesn't appear to allow derivatives or reuse outside wikipedia.16:35, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Here's the text of my communications with Dr. Mainstone, who provided the pictures. I find the wikimedia licensing very confusing, so I'm hoping that someone who understands it can do the work of interpretation for me :) My understanding is Dr. Mainstone would like the pictures to remain solely on wikipedia and it's non-English siblings. Messages are in chronological order from oldest (top) to newest (bottom). Should you require further clarification, I could try to contact him again and ask, or put him directly in touch with you. As you can see below, he was quite friendly in our interactions.

(Mainstone's initial reply) Sorry for the delay in answering your request! As I am not exactly sure what picture you had on the page previously, I will attach 2 different images. I would be happy for either of these to be posted on the webpage. The first is probably what was there before, but the resolution may not have suited you. The second is a picture of me (Professor John Mainstone, Custodian of the Pitch Drop Experiment) taken in 1990, about 2 years into the life of the 8th drop. The choice is yours. I would ask for the following acknowledgment of whichever image you use: "The University of Queensland" . John Mainstone [Custodian of the UQ Pitch Drop Experiment]

(WLU's question) Hello Dr. Mainstone. I have uploaded both images to the Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia commons allows the pictures to be used with ALL wikimedia wikiprojects, not just English wikipedia. I hope this is acceptable. Please let me know if you have any problems or suggestions with the files as is, and I will do my best to change them. Also, if you would prefer the licensing to be changed or have the pictures only avalialbe to English wikipedia, I'll try to rectify. Thanks!

I hate the GNU license, it's very confusing. I took pictures of some book covers, under the impression that pictures of book covers were OK to upload. Are they? It's my own work, adjusted for colour, cropping, alignment, etc, should these go to commons or english wikipedia?

I wouldn't mind a line at my en.wikipedia talk page to let me know there's a reply.
