File:William b Grice age 83 2017.jpg edit

File:William b Grice age 83 2017.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Clarification edit

Hello Mr Grice. Firstly, I'd like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience I've caused. I understand that the images you have uploaded do have some meaning to you. If you'd like, I'd be willing to retract the request for certain files under certain terms.

  • You have uploaded several duplicate images; those have to go, no question
  • You need to clarify why you think the images I've tagged for deletion are educational and should be kept; I'd suggest reading Commons:Deletion policy#Not educationally useful
  • Several of the files need to be renamed, they're quite meaningless and ambiguous at the moment

I did not request the deletion of all of your images, rather, I requested the deletion of images that I classified as personal. We usually deleted unused personal images since we don't usually use any images, there are several online platforms that are used for this purpose instead. I'm retracting the request for the image of your friend Don Francks, quite unfortunate how he passed away, as it seems it could be used well. Please do not be discouraged, if you happened to find a use for those images, I would retract the request as soon as possible. I heavily admire your photography skills and some of your images are a particular asset, while others are not.

Please do not resort to attacks. I do understand the scope and purpose of this project, otherwise, I would not have made the request. Wikimedia Commons is not a social media site, nor is it a site to dump media.

Finally, I'd like to note that I live in Toronto myself, I am not able to call your number at the time. However, if you'd like to discuss via email, my email is zhangj1079.2@gmail.com. Regards, hiàn 22:06, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
