Deutsch: Der fünfteilige Fensterzyklus im Chor (1970) und die Rosette im südlichen Querschiff (1978) des Fraumünsters in Zürich – die sogenannten Chagallfenster – gelten als Meisterwerke Marc Chagalls. Ergänzt wird die Innenausstattung des Fraumünsters durch Augusto Giacomettis im Oktober 1945 eingeweihte Giacomettifenster. Das monumentale Werk mit einer Höhe von rund 9 m und einer Fläche von etwa 27 m2 ist doppelt so gross wie Chagalls Christusfenster. Das Giacomettifenster "Himmlisches Paradies" mit Gott-Vater (mit Weltkugel) und Jesus Christus zur Rechten, mit den Propheten Jesaja und Jeremia, Ezechiel und Daniel, Hosea und Joel, Amos und Obadja und in der untersten Reihe den vier Evangelisten, umrahmt von knienden Engeln, in ebenso kraftvoll leuchtenden Farben, gilt ebenfalls als einer der Publikumsmagneten in Zürich.
English: The choir of the Fraumünster abbey in Zürich (Switzerland) includes five large stained glass windows designed by artist Marc Chagall and installed in 1970. Each of them has a dominant color and depicts a Christian story. From left (northern wall) to right:
• Prophets, depicting Elijah's ascent to heaven
• Jacob, displaying his combat, and dreams of heaven
• Christ, illustrating various scenes of Christ's life
• Zion, showing an angel trumpeting the end of the world
• Law, with Moses looking down upon the suffering of his people
Equally impressive is the 9m tall stained glass of the North transept, created by Augusto Giacometti in from 1940 to October 1945.
