The Leontocephaline is the snake-entwined lion-headed figure of the Roman mystery cult known as the Mithraic Mysteries. The function of the figure (what it represents) is uncertain. Some of the figures have a human instead of lion head, but they are identifiable as belonging to the same genre as the leontocephalines proper because they all possess one or more of the other crucial attributes: the serpent-entwined body, the wings, the clutched keys.
