The New York Marble Cemetery, located in the interior of the block bounded by Second Avenue, The Bowery, 2nd and 3rd Streets, with its entrance located between 41 and 43 Second Avenue in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City was founded in 1830, the first non-sectarian cemetery in the city, and was designated a New York City landmark in 1969.
