The Old Art Gallery; also known as Switch Station #8 is located on the U.C. Berkeley campus in Berkeley, California. The building was built by John Galen Howard in 1904 to be the campus’s first steam powerhouse. It opened in March 1943 as an art gallery; and they installed four mosaic murals in 1936 and 1937 as part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Artists of the murals are Florence Alston Swift, and Helen Bruton (of the Bruton sisters).
