This is the Wikimedia photo gallery page for St. Mary's City, Maryland which is also known as Historic St. Mary's City. The area is actually not a city at all, but is instead the site of the first Maryland Colony and was the first capitol of Maryland for 60 years until it was abandoned and became a ghost town. Today it is an archeological research area, a reconstructed colonial town and museum complex as well as being a living history area.

St. Mary's College of Maryland is also in St. Mary's City and the Historic District and the college grounds overlap.
