Discussion

The run will be done in batches. For each batch I will:

  1. run quarry:query/43208
  2. copy results to QuickStatements and run that

Looks OK for me. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:21, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
{{OTRSpending}} has no ticket number. Please elaborate the intention of this task. --Krd 15:27, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Krd, you are right about {{OTRSpending}}. I will be copying ids from {{PermissionOTRS}} templates to SDC. See test run. --Jarekt (talk) 19:36, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the clarification. Looks good. --Schlurcher (talk) 20:21, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What is the benefit of having the data redundant in another place? Are there plan to remove {{PermissionOTRS}} completely? --Krd 05:27, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Krd, I do not have plans of removing {{PermissionOTRS}} templates or parameters from them (that is a discussion for the future), although I would vote to modify our current tools to add OTRS parameters to only SDC in the future uploads. The reasons for having OTRS in SDC are mostly the same as having any other piece of metadata in the searchable database as opposed to wikitext. That is why Wikidata was build in addition to wikipedia. More specifically, We would be able to add additional functionality to {{PermissionOTRS}} like show other files using the same OTRS ID, or list all the files with different authors sharing one OTRS id. --Jarekt (talk) 12:24, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think this should be discussed with the OTRS communitiy to have a general procedure. I think there will be dozens of tools that need to be changed accordingly. --Krd 17:51, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK I will strart discussion at OTRS, but that is a bit premature as we need to have OTRS in SDC before we can talk about updating any tools. We will also need phabricator:T221921 to be resolved so we can actually run SDC queries on Commons, before we can do any queries. At the moment we just have to lay down the groundwork and copy the data to the SDC database. --Jarekt (talk) 20:20, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it can help to get an impression what the OTRS community thinks about at. And perhaps we can find additional problems that need to be taken into account.
As an example, also defective permissions like in File:Voenix2006-wikipedia.jpg perhaps could be cleaned up during such process. --Krd 07:24, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I started a discussion on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard#OTRS_on_SDC. It is not much to discuss at the moment, but maybe some will have some thoughts. --Jarekt (talk) 18:35, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've posted my thoughts there. Since all this task is doing is copying data, I'm fine with it, but I strongly oppose the rest of the proposal this bot is a part of unless my concerns at OTRS/Noticeboard are addressed. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 19:16, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Approved. --Krd 15:45, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
