Introduction

edit

The collaboration with Serra i Abella Advanced School of Art and Design in Hospitalet de Llobregat (Catalonia, Spain) has started with one Illustration student who is doing her internship with the wikimedian association, Amical Viquipèdia. Her mission is to draw images for Wikipedia articles and publish them on Commons. The association members, with help from other Wikipedians, identify gaps in the stock of images available on Commons, images that would be difficult to obtain free of copyright restrictions. This project lends students the opportunity to work on a professional commission, make their artwork known and join the Commons community of graphic authors.

The Serra i Abella Advanced School of Art and Design (Escola Superior de Disseny i d’Arts Serra i Abella), founded in 1989, is a public institute of higher education under the auspices of the Catalan Government's Department of Education.
