Introduction edit

Several Illustration students at the Llotja Advanced School of Art and Design in Barcelona are doing internships with the Wikimedian association, Amical Viquipèdia. Their mission is to draw images for Wikipedia articles and publish them on Commons. The association members, with help from other Wikipedians, identify gaps in the stock of images available on Commons, images that would be difficult to obtain free of copyright restrictions. This project lends students the opportunity to work on a professional commission, make their artwork known and join the Commons community of graphic authors.

Llotja is the direct descendant of the oldest art school in Catalonia, as well as in all of Spain (it was founded in 1775). Currently the Llotja Advanced School of Art and Design (Escola Superior de Disseny i d’Arts Llotja) is a public institute of higher education under the auspices of the Catalan Government's Department of Education.
