  • Two comments about the scope: 1) it should also contain the common name in english (if there are several just pick the most common one). 2) Bark can look very different, depending on age (example from a young tree/branch), so I suggest make clear that this is bark of an older tree. Something like the following: Juglans regia (Persian walnut), mature bark. --El Grafo (talk) 12:44, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Comment I've thought about this for a while now. There are other files in that category that show the strong ridges in the bark (typical for old individuals of this species) better – File:Juglans regia 013.JPG for example, but I think that one might have a slight yellow tint to it. The candidate still has some of the silvery, smooth texture of young specimens visible, which might be a pro or a con depending how you look at it. Same for the grass in the background, which on the one hand gives a bit of of a size reference but on the other hand takes up quite a bit of screen area compared to files like File:Rinde einer Echten Walnuss.jpg, which is all about the bark. I think at least for a thumbnail-sized picture within an article as well as the default VI review size, that's more of a con. And then there's a lot of moss on the trunk, resulting in even less actual bark being visible. I'm tending towards an   Oppose because it's not a clear winner for me, but I'm setting the status to "discussed" to maybe get some more last-minute opinions. --El Grafo (talk) 17:02, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
