Support This is a generalized model commonly used in biology classes. It is not even supposed to represent any specific genus or species, as its task is to teach the common features all mammal hearts share regardless of species (and potentially also show differences to hearts of other animals such as fish etc., which would also have their own generalized model). Just like this animation can be used to illustrate the functioning of any 4-stroke diesel engine, as well as to show the differences to a 4-stroke petrol engine etc. As such any discussion about the usefulness of the model is moot, as these things are used in real-life classrooms every day. What we can certainly discuss is whether this particular image is illustrating this kind of model best. I'd say "yes it does": 1) It seems to show a modern, (semi-) industrially-made model that would be commonly used today – e.g. File:Mammal heart model 04- FMVZ USP-06.jpg looks a bit dated to me. 2) It shows one of the better take-apart models. 3) it is not obfuscated by digitally added letters like e.g. File:Heart with ventricles and arteries.jpg. 4) It is easily identifiable as a heart at first sight, which my other favourite File:Heart with ventricles and arteries.jpg is not really. 5) the image has a scale bar, which is always nice for this kind of things. --El Grafo (talk) 18:11, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm neither ;-) And if you'd like to set this back to "discuss" to get some more opinions, I'm totally fine with that. --El Grafo (talk) 18:45, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
