Wiki Loves Earth Palestine 2024

Wiki Loves Earth is an international photographic competition to promote natural heritage sites around the world through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons), and this is the Palestanian version. Everybody can participate! There are a lot of natural heritage sites in Palestine, and the goal of Wiki Loves Earth is to encourage people to take pictures of those natural sites and to put them under a free license so that others may access them through the Internet.

The contest will take place from 15 May 2024 to 15 June 2024.

In May and June, you may upload as many pictures as you want of natural sites that you have visited. The pictures don't have to be taken in May, but must be uploaded during that month to be considered. Provide your photo with {{Wiki Loves Earth 2024|ps}} template. At the end of the month, the contest jury will begin evaluating the photographs and will choose the best 10 pictures of the natural sites in Palestine, and ultimately in the world.

Please visit the winning photographs from this year's competition at the end of July, 2024.

Prizes

The Levant Jury will select up to 4 images, and the winners will participate in the international selection. The Jury also awards vouchers as national prizes:

• First place - 150 $
• Second place - 100 $
• Third place - 50 $
• Fourth place - 50 $

Due to legal restrictions, Prizes will not be sent directly to winners in the following countries of residence: “Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, and Iraq”. The list may also be expanded if we encounter legal difficulties while sending prizes.

Why participate?

Participate in Wiki Loves Earth Palestine and help Wikipedia document protected areas, natural monuments and everything inside them!

Because it's fun! By photographing and sharing images of protected areas nearby you, you can explore more about Palestine and learn about its immense natural heritage. It's a nice challenge to improve your photography skills, and you can of course win some nice prizes.

N.B.: All pictures have to be uploaded from the 15^th of May to the 15^th of June. You can also upload images that you may already have taken in the past, for example during one of your travels to the country, but you can upload them only during the indicated period.

Competition Rules

We always strive to keep the competition clear and easy to participate in. Here are a few rules that your photos must follow to participate in the contest in Palestine:

All entries must be original photographs uploaded by their authors to Wikimedia Commons.
All photos must be uploaded between May 15th and June 15th, 2024 to be eligible.
All photos must be under a free license on Wikimedia Commons. You can learn about the different types of licenses Licensing on Wikimedia Commons.
Participants must have an active email address.
Lists of suggested eligible sites are available Here Photos of representative species (animals, plants, etc.) taken in an eligible site also qualify if they are properly identified.
Captions and descriptions are required.
Make sure there are no visible watermarks.
All photos must have at least 2 megapixels.
