  • Purpose: Evaluate the images under the criteria of beauty, technical quality and visual/social impact of the image and/or the monument depicted.

  • Receive an average (3 judges) score of 5.0 if the number of files is too low

  • Purpose: Evaluate the best images under the criteria of beauty, technical quality and visual/social impact of the image and/or the monument depicted.
  • Number of images: 96
  • Type of round: Ranking
  • Criteria: List of the 96 images with the lowest score, defined by the mean of the position numbers of the images in the ranking sheet of each judge (6 judges)
  • Notes: This round included all images that received an score of 13 stars combined (3 judges) on round 2

  • Purpose: Choose 10 images for the international jury; Choose the best image from Espírito Santo; Evaluate the best images under the diversity of photographers and images;

  • 10 images with the lowest score (meaning they are in the top 10), defined by the mean of the position numbers of the images in the ranking sheet of each judge (6 judges), considering the diversity of monuments in all 10, and diversity of photographers in the top 5 (the ones that received a prize);
  • 1 image with the lowest score, defined by the mean of the position numbers of the images in the ranking sheet of each judge (6 judges), considering the background of the monuments and the context of the photographs.

Round 3: Selection of winners edit

  • Purpose: select 10 winners
  • Number of images: 238
  • Type of round: ranking (discussion)
  • Criteria: each juror selects 20 best images from the short-list, then the whole jury reaches consensus on the top-10

Round 1 edit

Yes/No to get the number of images down before voting. All images viewed by two jurors and only images with two yes votes moves on.

Round 2 edit

Rating to get the number of images down before ranking. Remaining images rated by all jurors. Cut off decided somewhere around 25 images where the score allows.

Round 3 edit

Ranking to decide on top three and shared 4th moving on to the international finale. If images end up with the same score for top three or making it to the international finale previous rounds decide the outcome.
