Commons talk:Batch uploading/Minerals from Rob Lavinsky on mindat
I am very disappointed that this project was started without anyone requesting permission from mindat.org for this. We do not allow bots to retrieve information and images from our site without permission. While permission may have been granted by Rob Lavinsky, no permission was obtained from mindat.org (and we have to pay the bandwidth to send you these images).
Also, not all descriptions are the original descriptions posted by Rob Lavinsky. Some have been updated on the site and remain the copyright of mindat.org and cannot be reused without permission.
Mindat.org has been very supportive of wikipedia in the past, but we do not appreciate actions such as this which have been done without any proper care or discussion with our site.
I would request that someone in charge of this project please email me, at jolyon@mindat.org, as soon as possible to help resolve this, and please do NOT use any automated tools to retrieve images from mindat.org again.

- Hello Jolyon Ralph and Multichill, the seeming problem is registered in the OTRS Ticket:2010022810018255 and will be answered very soon.
- @Jolyon Ralph, I really think, there can only be due to a misunderstanding. We only load pictures from Rob Lavinsky (and later Christian Rewitzer) up to Wikimedia Commons, because we have his permission to do that. The Download of all pictures for filtering Lavinsky's (and Rewitzer's pictures is ready long ago was needed only one time. On my information, it wasn't possible in another way to filter the pictures and descriptions from Lavinsky.
- Furthermore the descriptions of all pictures ob Lavinsky have a very easy style, that means only facts like mineral or variety name, locality, crystal morphology and size. Nothing of that is capable of being protected. -- Ra'ike T C 09:40, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- Of course it would have been possible another way, if you had contacted me I could have sent a TAR file of everything that was needed! That's how I'll do it in the future, to make everything simpler. I am happy to say the situation is now resolved as far as I am concerned and you have full permission to reuse any altered descriptions that come with Lavinsky and Rewitzer's pictures.
