Guideline
editI think this page has the potential to become a guideline. The essay seems to sufficiently document our consensus about point-illustrating, in my opinion. - @Ricky81682: probably the advice should also say that you should ping contributors who appear to have been working on related categories, and that if your proposal looks likely to affect thousands of categories, you should probably post a short notice on the Village Pump pointing to the discussion you are starting. - Jmabel ! talk 04:13, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- I'd go even further and oblige users to use the talk page of those contributors instead of just pinging them (just like we do with DRs), because the latter can fail to notify the said contributors. Ambiguity
edit"do not try to run down that sysop." Does this mean "do not try to get in touch with that sysop", "do not try to insult that sysop's reputation", or something else I might not be thinking of? In any case, it should be clearer. "Run down" has too many meanings. - Jmabel ! talk 16:13, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
