Faroese stamps 1983
1983 was the first year, when Postverk Føroya, the postal adminsitration of the Faroe Islands, issued more than three stamp sets.

FR 078: Niels Ryberg Finsen (1860-1904), the only Nobel Prize Winner from the Faroes, 1903.
FR 079: Sir Alexander Fleming (1881-1955), Scottish Nobel Prize Winner 1944, discoverer of Penicillin.

Nordic House: National CostumesEdit
On 7 May 1983 opened the Nordic House in the Faroes (Norðurlandahúsið í Føroyum). This is the cultural center of the Nordic Council in the Faroes and at the same time one of the most exciting modern buildings in Scandinavia. This stamp issue shows the National costumes of the nine Nordic nations (Sápmi and Greenland had no reckognized flags at that time).
