The only version I could find of this enchanting march is the orchestral version for piano. It would take three hands to play this score the way it's written, as the melody notes are intended for other instruments. But it's worth it just to be able to hear this unusual piece. Others have searched in vain to find the original piano version for two hands, which does exist and can be found in the elusive printed folio "Jacobs' Folio of Oriental, Indian, and Spanish Music No. 3". It also is said to exist as a separately printed score. Neither the folio nor the original score have turned up online to date. (Thank you to JohnJ1995 of Musescore for this info.) This version presented here was found by Bill Gill of Bill's Audio Reference Library in the January 1928 edition of Melody magazine, which was published in Boston by Walter Jacobs. It bears the copyright date of 1902. Bill Edwards lists a piece called "Bedouin" by Edwin F. Kendall with a date of ca. 1915 and describes it as Film Music. Edwin F. Kendall was a talented composer from New York who wrote a variety of interesting pieces over a twenty year period, including some good ragtime scores. The arranger of the orchestral version was Richard E. Hildreth, a well-known bandleader, composer and arranger from Boston who did a lot of work for Walter Jacobs. Original orchestral score for piano was from Bill's Audio Reference Library at this link: https://billsaudioreferencelibrary.com/track/1881820/the-bedouin-1902 I've reproduced the original orchestral version but with considerable formatting changes for easier reading, expanding the two pages out to four. I've added 16 bars of the repeated A strain in its proper place after the B strain in place of the D.S. jump.
