Description

Elegant wood species, reaching lengths of 55 mm. A characteristic feature - the long thin legs with suction cups on the ends of the fingers. Distributed in the Eastern Europe, Asia Minor, Crimea, the northwestern coast of the Black Sea and the entire northeastern European region including Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and Poland, inhabits grasslands, shrubs and mixed forests. Tree frogs usually sit motionless on the plants by day, hunting at night. Marriage cry is sharp, resembling a sharpening file the edges of the metal sheet, the cry of cicadas or duck quacking. Singing male inflates large throat cavity. Historically, tree frogs were used as barometers because they respond to approaching rain by croaking.

Изящный древесный вид, достигающий длины 55 мм. Характерная особенность - тонкие длинные ноги с присосками на концах пальцев. Распространение - Восточная Европа, страны Малой Азии, Крым, северо-западное побережье Черного моря и весь северо-восточный европейский регион, включая Украину, Беларусь, Россию и Польшу. Населяют луга, кустарники и смешанные леса. Днем обычно сидят неподвижно на растениях, охотятся по ночам. Брачный крик резкий, напоминающий затачивание напильником края металлического листа, крик цикад или утиное кряканье. Поющий самец раздувает крупный горловой резонатор.

Исторически древесные лягушки использовались в качестве барометров, потому что они реагируют на приближение дождя кваканьем.
