Summary edit

Description

December 4, 2019 Ohmsett; Leonardo, NJ

The “BSEE Burner” is attached to a U.S. Navy Supervisor of Salvage barge along with auxiliary support equipment for spray behavior tests in waves at the Ohmsett test tank. Water was substituted for burning oil to determine if the shroud of the unit impinged upon the “oil” spray. The spray is ejected at such high rates of speed, no impingement was observed in all of the wave conditions tested. BSEE’s Oil Spill Preparedness Division manages research and development projects such as this to provide offshore owners and operators and other stakeholders with new or improved technologies, tools, and tactics to combat oil spills.
