Description: This was a British police station that was established about two years after the declaration of the British mandate in Israel, in the early 1920s. It was used by the British Mounted Police / Desert Police

שם: משטרת הרוכבים - צילום מרחפן
תיאור: משטרת הרוכבים היתה נקודת שיטור בריטית שהוקמה כשנתיים לאחר הכרזת המנדט הבריטי בא"י, בתחילת שנות ה-20. היא שמשה את משטרת הרוכבים / משטרת המדבר הבריטית
הערות: המקום נקרא ע"י התושבים המקומיים הבדואים – ביר זְבַּאלֶה שיבוש של "סובילה", שמה של עיר עתיקה שמופיעה כבר במפת מידבא. לאחר מלחמת העצמאות הפכה הנקודה, לנקודת משטרה של משטרת ישראל. בשנת 1921 הובא כוח משטרה לנגב שמנה כ – 140 שוטרים רובם בדואים, מהם 72 רוכבי גמלים, 24 פרשים. שוטרים אלו סיירו במרחבי הנגב. המבנה מלבני עם שתי עמדות שמירה מעוגלות משני צידיו. חוץ מנקודה זו הוקמו עוד 4 נקודות שיטור בנגב – עימַארָה – קיבוץ אורים, ואדי בָּהַא – נתיבות, פלוג'ה – פלוגות וג’מַאמָה (ויקיפדיה)
