Description: Field position no. 3 was part of the 4 peripheral guard posts that were established in 1947 and protected the kibbutz from Egyptian attacks

תיאור: עמדת שדה מס. 3 היתה חלק מ- 4 עמדות השמירה ההיקפיות שהוקמו ב 1947 והגנו על הקיבוץ מהתקפות המצרים
הערות: קיבוץ חצרים עלה על הקרקע במסגרת "עליית 11 הנקודות" בנגב תש"ז 6.10.1946. עם החמרת המצב הביטחוני בסוף שנת 1947 היו בחצרים כ-50 חברים, הם חפרו תעלות קשר, בנו שני מקלטים, חומות עפר וארבע עמדות שמירה היקפיות, חצרים פעלה תחת פיקוד ההגנה ואח"כ צה"ל. הקשר עם העולם החיצוני התנהל באמצעות מכשיר אלחוט, ומטוס "פרימוס" שהביא לפעמים דואר, עיתונים ושמרים לאפיית לחם. בספט' 1948 הקימו המצרים משלט מול חצרים ממנו הפגיזו את הקיבוץ. לאחר כשבוע ימים נטשו המצרים את המשלט. באוקטובר 1948, השתתפו חברי חצרים בשחרור באר שבע
