General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant, who at the time was the General Manager of Buick (formed in 1899) In 1911, Durant formed a partnership with Belgian-born race-car driver, Louis Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Motor Company was born. In 1927, the Chevrolet Superior was updated to the Series AA Capitol. (the same year Ford moved on to the Model A) The body was much the same, but the Capitol did get a new radiator shell, fully crowned fenders, and bullet-style headlights. Eight body styles were available; 2 door Convertible, Coupe, 4 door Sedan, Landau and Tourer Chevrolets, along with many other brands, were also produced in Australia by Holden Motor Body Builders from 1927-31 (and from then became General Motors Holden) Local bodies were built on an imported chassis.
