Description

The Chrysler Corporation was founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925, out of what remained of the Maxwell Motor Company. In 1928, Chrysler expanded, he established Plymouth and DeSoto brands and also acquired Fargo Trucks and Dodge Brothers Motors and started selling vehicles under those names. Six models were available from Chrysler in 1939; The base model was the C22 Royal, a new grille for 1939, now the bottom section with vertical bars rolling back, then the upper section protruding forward in the centre. Headlights set in the fenders were teardrop in shape. Introduced in 1939 was the slightly better appointed Royal Windsor. Next was the C23 Imperial, available in 2 door Coupe, 4 door Sedan and Convertibles, engines, 110 or 122hp 298 cu in straight 8. The C23 New Yorker got the 323 cu in straight 8. The new C23 Chrysler Saratoga was the most expensive model, 298 cu in straight 8
