Summary

edit
Description Transferring fire equipment from fire truck to Forest Service Stinson Monoplane at the Ely dock. Use of the plane greatly speeds up the transportation of equipment and supplies. Two or three men and equipment can be taken into fires for initial attack, thus saving many hours of time necessary to cover the same distance by canoe, portage, and hiking. Arriving at a fire soon after it starts means that often the fire can be put out while it is still small.
